With the agreed-upon Lyall Cameron deal and the return of a £16 million player, Rangers’ ideal transfer window comes to a conclusion.
Chelsea are targeting Rangers star Jefté for a potential move to Stamford Bridge this month.
Rangers have had a quiet winter transfer window, with activity limited to loan deals so far. With the deadline fast approaching, the Scottish club could see another outgoing, as Premier League giants Chelsea have expressed interest in Jefté. Despite only joining Rangers eight months ago, the Brazilian defender has caught Chelsea’s eye.
While Chelsea possess a large squad, they are short of options at left-back. Marc Cucurella is their primary choice, with Ben Chilwell linked to a potential exit. To address this gap, Chelsea have initiated talks with Rangers regarding Jefté, although no agreement has been reached. Should a deal not materialize this window, Chelsea are expected to pursue him again in the summer.
Rangers technical director Nils Koppen recently explained the club’s transfer philosophy, emphasizing the importance of selling young talents like Jefté, who is 21, for the right price. Koppen stated that the club must be “brave enough” to sell players performing well and reinvest in new talent.
Jefté has been a key figure for Rangers this season, making 34 appearances under Philippe Clement. While Rangers appear open to selling him, they will only accept an offer they deem appropriate, whether in this transfer window or at the end of the season.
