Rangers’ sensational takeover is “all but done and dusted” and new information was leaked about the Ibrox deal.

It was revealed on Wednesday that a sensational bid with 49ers Enterprises has been in the pipeline with Rangers since before January.

Paraag Marathe and Co reportedly want to acquire enough shares in Rangers to become the biggest shareholder at Ibrox and demand seats on the board.

Now, it looks as though the deal to acquire the Glasgow giants is becoming an increasing reality after an update was shared on the blockbuster takeover at Rangers.

London source says general agreement secured for Rangers takeover

The Daily Mail reported an update late on Wednesday (19 February), citing information from a city source in London.

According to the Mail, the source said the deal is “all but done and dusted” and that the American-based consortium, who also own Leeds United, have secured “at least pledges of controlling interest” in Rangers.

Furthermore, the source said that general agreement has now been made with several leading shareholders at Ibrox.

The report states that Rangers are valued at roughly £100million with recent figures suggesting shares could have been traded at 20p.

Rangers Shareholders Share (Round)
Dave King 13%
Douglas Park 12%
George Taylor 10%
Stuart Gibson 9.5%
John Bennett 7%
Julian Wolhardt and John Halsted 7%

Exciting times on the horizon at Rangers

Rangers are a sleeping giant awaiting to be awoken and supporters will be hugely excited by the prospect of 49ers Enterprises getting involved at Ibrox.

They need only look over the border to see the sort of impact they have been having at Leeds United to know how serious they will be taking this venture.

The Whites are riding high at the top of the Championship and closing on promotion to the Premier League having missed out on the play-offs last season.

Rangers’ financial difficulties have been well-documented for some time and it has left Philippe Clement frustrated in the transfer market over the past couple of windows.

That is not to absolve the Belgian completely of blame for Rangers’ on-pitch struggles this season but there has to be acceptance that the hand he has been dealt off the pitch has not exactly been a kind one.

Fresh investment and fresh ideas are badly needed at Rangers and the idea of the 49ers getting involved is an extremely exciting one.

It remains to be seen whether a takeover actually comes to fruition but, for now at least, it feels like supporters can dream of a vastly exciting future.
