Alan Brazil sees Jose Mourinho to Rangers happening as the Seville calculator comes out for Celtic history lesson
Brazil reckons the impending Ibrox takeover and Mourinho’s smarts means managing Gers isn’t entirely out of the question

Alan Brazil admits he COULD see Jose Mourinho managing Rangers.
The Fenerbahce boss was asked directly about managing Gers – or bitter rivals Celtic – by Record Sport in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Europa League last 16 first leg clash against Barry Ferguson’s men in Istanbul. The Special One said not right now, but in the future, why not? As he praised the passion of Scottish football, admitting it has the “fire” he looks for in a league.
And while talkSport host Brazil jokingly told Mourinho to stay away from Ibrox, he did admit that with the fresh investment about to pour into Rangers from 49ers Enterprises as they close in on a deal to buy the club, that he wouldn’t completely dismiss Mourinho becoming the new gaffer in Govan at some stage. But only after giving Gabby Agbonlahor a brief history lesson on Celtic vs Mourinho’s Porto in the 2003 UEFA Cup Final.
“You know where he’s getting that from? Seville. Porto Celtic. What a final that was. Gabby, 100,000 Celtic fans were there. It was unbelievable. You couldn’t get a flight from anywhere in the UK to Spain. You had to fly out to Germany and fly back in, it was unbelievable.”

Mourinho admitted that he still gets Rangers fans thanking him for preventing Celtic picking up another European trophy. But Brazil warned him off that particular move: “Don’t even think of going there Jose. There’s only one place to go. Don’t even think about it!”
However, he did suggest that the impeding takeover at Rangers meant you just never know. Brazil continued: “With the new people coming in, they’re going to put money into Rangers and clear the board, clear the can of worms out and put their own people in with big investment. So Rangers will come back, it just depends when.
“At the end of the day, he’ll know Rangers are a sleeping giant. He’s not stupid, he’s clever. With the right funding as his knowledge, it would be interesting. I could see it happening.”
