‘Could be hours’ – Jeff Stelling explodes at Premier League in Everton appeal rant live on air

Jeff Stelling has hit out at the Premier League over the time being taken to hear the outcome of the Everton points deduction appeal at Goodison Park.

The legendary broadcaster questioned how long it will take to provide Everton with an answer whether their appeal has been successful or not, suggesting it will affect all clubs at the bottom of the table.

Stelling also complained about the lack of transparency with regard to the outcome and its delivery, with even the club left in the dark about when the verdict will be known.

Speaking live on talkSPORT [20 February, 07:08], Stelling ranted: “We all talk about Everton’s appeal against this ten-point penalty, but why have they not been told when that decision is going to be made?

“Surely if a decision has been made, tell them what it is, or otherwise, tell them when they’ll know it. It’s the not knowing that affects Everton and everybody else down there.

“Everton have made their case, they’ve heard their case, how long does it take to make a decision? It could be hours, could be a few days, nobody knows.”

When will Everton hear the Premier League decision?

With the appeal hearing having taken place at the start of the month, an estimated timeframe of mid-February was given, yet on 20 February, we are still yet to hear an update from the League.

With multiple sides under a real threat of relegation this season, the outcome of the points deduction appeal could be pivotal in deciding who goes down and who stays up, so the sooner we know, the better for all teams involved.

Everton squandered a chance to move to within two points of Crystal Palace as they drew 1-1 on 19 February, and depending on the outcome of their appeal, the opportunity may have been there to leapfrog their relegation rivals.

There has been widespread criticism of the way the Premier League have handled this case along with the separate charges against Manchester City and Nottingham Forest, with clubs near the bottom affected.
