Auburn lost to Duke in a thrilling game at Cameron Indoor Stadium on December 4. It was Bruce Pearl’s second-ranked Tigers’ first loss of the 2024-25 season.

He led the Blue Devils with 22 points, 11 boards, and 4 assists. Cooper Flagg is expected to be the No. 1 pick in the draft. He was also great on defense, as shown by the three steals and two stops he had.

Pearl talked about Flagg and his great game after his team beat the other team 84–78.

Pearl told Cooper Flagg, “I think this was one of his better games tonight.” “We didn’t bother him enough because he didn’t have a turnover.” He spent a lot of time on the foul line. He’s a great player and gets a great whistle. They are also good players for us.

Pearl thought his team did a good job on offense and said the Tigers’ defense was the biggest reason they lost.

Auburn star Johni Broome also showed how great he was.

Flagg had a great game against Johni Broome, another star big man. The 20-point, 12-rebound performance by Broome showed signs of why he should win the Naismith College Player of the Year award.

Broome didn’t shoot the ball as well as usual, but he still made an impact as one of only two Auburn players to score 20 points. Pearl gave Broome flowers after the race to thank him for the effort he has put together so far.

Pearl said, “Johni has been a very consistent player this year, which is one reason our team has played so well.” “It’s clear that he should win Player of the Year.” His great play will help our team win more games. He has always done the same thing. He can do it on both ends, inside and out.

The Tigers are no longer unbeaten, but they will try to get back on track during their next six-game homestand, where they will only face one ranked team.

It’s still likely that Auburn will be one of the teams left standing in March, even though they lost.
