Alabama football quarterback Dylan Lonergan will enter the NCAA transfer portal
Alabama football will likely lose a former four-star quarterback via the transfer portal.
According to 247Sports, Dylan Lonergan, a member of Alabama’s 2023 recruiting class, will transfer after two years. He will have three seasons of eligibility.
Lonergan subsequently shared the item on his Instagram account, possibly confirming his plan to access the gateway.
Lonergan, 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds from Brookwood High School, was ranked No. 159 overall and No. 13 quarterback in the 2023 class by 247Sports’ aggregate rankings.
He began the 2024 season as one of four scholarship quarterbacks on the roster, with Jalen Milroe, Ty Simpson, and Austin Mack. Lonergan ranked third on the depth chart and appeared in two games: Alabama’s 63-0 victory over Western Kentucky and the Crimson Tide’s 52-7 triumph over Mercer.
In 2024, Lonergan completed five of six passes for 23 yards. He also added a 16-yard run.
In 2023, Lonergan completed both of his throw attempts against Chattanooga for 12 yards and ran once for five yards.
Lonergan has not scored a collegiate touchdown.
The NCAA’s winter transfer portal window concludes on December 28. Players that visit the portal by that date can select their new school at any time after the window closes.
