Alex Crook: ‘Final decision’ update emerges as Moyes sack on cards at West Ham
No final decision has been made on David Moyes’ future at West Ham amid sack pressure after the 5-2 defeat to Crystal Palace, according to Alex Crook.
The talkSPORT journalist explained that there is no current frontrunner for the job as no call has been made on Moyes, but the club are aware that Julen Lopetegui would be keen.
Pressure has been building on the manager’s position at the London Stadium following a string of results which has seen the Hammers win just one of their last eight games.
David Moyes facing West Ham sack after Crystal Palace loss
The discussion over Moyes’ future at the London Stadium has been raging throughout this season amid the various dips in form the Hammers have gone through, with this most recent one coming at a time when a decision will need to be made.
His contract is up in the summer and while it initially seemed he would be handed a new deal, the more likely option now appears that he will leave at the end of the decision, although the final call reportedly rests with Moyes.
Lopetegui left Wolves at the beginning of the season and has been out of work since. He was linked to the job at Crystal Palace before Oliver Glasner took over, with the Eagles now reaping the rewards of their decision.
However, he presents an interesting option at the London Stadium having had success with Sevilla before his untimely exit from Real Madrid, with his stock having dropped harshly since then despite the good work he did at Wolves.
