Dallas cowboys
Before their Thanksgiving matchup, the Cowboys receive a huge update on the Giants’ quarterback situation.
The Cowboys got a major injury update on the Giants’ quarterback situation just before a Thanksgiving Day matchup between the NFC East rivals.
Tommy DeVito reportedly has a small chance to play following an injury he sustained in Week 12 but New York is bracing for Drew Lock to start instead. Lock is a more established player than DeVito despite being his backup, so this could actually be viewed as bad news for Dallas’ defense.
Coming off an exciting win over the Commanders in which Mike Zimmer’s struggling unit performed fairly well, they’ll now have a question about who will be under center for the Giants.
Giants Reportedly Planning to Start QB Drew Lock vs. Cowboys
After New York released Daniel Jones, who was quickly signed by the Minnesota Vikings, they turned to DeVito last week in a questionable decision. Things didn’t go well.
DeVito threw for 189 yards and while he didn’t throw an interception, he was sacked four times in an embarrassing 30-7 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He’s never been a viable option, and it’s probably for the best if he rests his injury and isn’t subjected to a talented Cowboys defensive line.
For his career, Lock has completed 59.5% of his passes for 5,292 yards with 28 TDs and 23 interceptions, adding another five scores on the ground. Considering how poorly the Giants’ season has played out, this gives the Cowboys an opportunity to officially end the Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen eras in New York.
Dallas has been perhaps the NFL’s most disappointing team, yet New York has been its most pathetic. The Cowboys don’t have much to play for, though it’d still be fun to get an opponent’s front office and coach fired.
We’ll see how Lock looks provided DeVito doesn’t miraculously play. Either way, Dallas has a huge advantage.
The Cowboys are currently 3.5-point home favorites with -180 odds on the moneyline at FanDuel Sporysbook, giving Dallas an implied 64.29% chance of winning the contest.
