‘Buzzing’ And ‘Brilliant’: Kelly’s In Paradise
TEENAGER Daniel Kelly was singing in the rain as he netted his first Celtic goal in the 7-1 hammering of Dundee last night.
The gifted midfielder came on for captain Callum McGregor at the interval with the champions amazingly already six goals ahead.
And the 18-year-old Youth Academy graduate added to the revelry in Paradise by hoisting the tally to a magnificent seven with a breathtaking right-foot drive from the edge of the box that soared high past the stretching Trevor Carson for a wonderful debut strike for the club.
Making the milestone goal even more memorable, the Hoops kid scored with his weaker right foot.
The home fans can’t wait to see what the youngster possesses in his left foot!
A beaming Kelly, speaking to Celtic TV, said: “It was brilliant and to learn from this group of boys, there is nothing better.
“Doing it in front of that crowd, I was buzzing.
“I had a few of my family and friends in the crowd tonight, so it’s brilliant.”
It was Kelly’s second appearance in the east end of Glasgow this season after replacing Odin Holm in the 5-0 Scottish Cup win over Highland outfit Buckie Thistle last month.
On that occasion, it was his fellow-graduate Rocco Vata who took the spotlight with his first goal for the club.
But Kelly stepped onto centre stage against the Tayside club who have conceded 13 goals in three league games against Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Now all eyes are on Tynecastle for Sunday’s midday clash with Hearts.
Kelly and his team-mates will be hoping to buzzing after that one, as well.
