Celtic Have Yang Red Card Appeal Dismissed
Celtic’s attempt to overturn Hyun-Jun Yang’s red card from their recent defeat against Hearts has been unsuccessful, with the SFA dismissing the appeal.
As a result, Yang is set to serve a two-match suspension, missing the cup match against Livingston and the league match against St Johnstone on March 16.
The decision stems from an incident during the match where Yang was shown a red card for a high boot on Alex Cochrane, a judgment that sparked significant controversy, particularly from Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.
Rodgers expressed his dissatisfaction with the decision post-match, notably criticising John Beaton’s role in the VAR process that led to Yang’s dismissal.
The appeal, which was expedited to be heard on Tuesday, was met with anticipation from both the club and its supporters. However, the outcome, which wasn’t disclosed until after 7 pm, confirmed that the initial decision would stand, leaving Celtic without Yang’s services for the upcoming two fixtures.
