Concussion knocks Jalen Hurts out of Philadelphia Eagles’ game
In a pivotal Week 16 matchup on December 22, 2024, the Philadelphia Eagles faced a significant setback when starting quarterback Jalen Hurts exited the game against the Washington Commanders due to a concussion. Hurts sustained the injury midway through the first quarter following a 13-yard scramble, during which he was tackled and his head impacted the ground. Despite initial attempts to remain in the game, medical evaluations necessitated his removal, and he was officially ruled out early in the second quarter.
Prior to his departure, Hurts had completed 1 of 4 pass attempts for 11 yards and contributed significantly on the ground with 41 rushing yards on three carries. His early exit disrupted the Eagles’ offensive rhythm, compelling backup quarterback Kenny Pickett to assume control. Pickett managed to lead a touchdown drive, connecting with A.J. Brown for a 4-yard score, but his overall performance was inconsistent, completing 14 of 24 passes for 143 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
