Country working ‘in conjuction with’ Celtic doctor over player – Director confident before international break

Honduras are working ‘in conjunction with’ Celtic’s team doctor so Luis Palma can feature for Honduras during the international break.

That’s according to Diez, who cover comments from the Administrative and Sports Director of the National Autonomous Football Federation of Honduras Gerardo Ramos regarding the Celtic man today.

The South American side were concerned that Palma would be missing for the upcoming international break when they take on Costa Rica and El Salvador after he picked up an injury with Brendan Rodgers’ side last week.

The belief was that he would be out until after the international break and it was reported in his homeland that the injury had set off alarm bells for his country.

They had been hoping to rely on the Celtic man, who is very much their star player after managing 11 goals and 13 assists in 35 appearances this season.

Losing him for these games would have been a major blow but it was explained the injury he’d picked up was only a minor one and there was hope he would be fit.

Ramos has now confirmed that, explaining they’re working in conjunction with Celtic’s doctor to ensure Palma is available.

“He has a minor injury that has been worked on with the National Team doctor in conjunction with the Celtic doctor,” he told HRN.

“We are positive that he (Luis Palma) will be able to be there for this important match against Costa Rica.

“Logic tells you that Palma is one of the first on the list, and if he is going to be called up, we hope he is 100 for that game, he does have a small one, but it is nothing serious and he can recover in the next few days.”
