Dan Campbell, Lions receive highest praise from 49ers 4-time Pro Bowler Nick Bosa.
The Detroit Lions are 14-2 this season and are gearing up for their biggest game of the year on Sunday night against the Minnesota Vikings.
The Lions must upset Kevin O’Connell’s team to ensure home field in the playoffs and avoid falling behind in the NFC, thus victory at Ford Field this weekend is critical.
On Wednesday, four-time Pro Bowler Nick Bosa of the 49ers praised coach Dan Campbell’s Lions for going into enemy territory and defeating the NFC Champions from the previous season.
“I don’t think they’re that different, I think they’ve had a ton of injuries on defense which hurts ’em, but the mentality of the head coach, you can see it throughout everybody, it’s really a cool team, I can just see from afar that it’s probably a fun team to play for, and they come out and they play to win every game and I respect that,” Bosa told the press following the match.
On Monday, Bosa had five tackles, three of which were aided, as the 49ers lost 40-34 to their NFC North opponents.
Now it is up to Campbell and company to continue the work they began with a resurgent Vikings squad prepared to face the Ford Field crowd and the Lions this Sunday evening.
Teddy Bridgewater’s return to the Lions is excellent news for Jameson Williams…
The Detroit Lions welcomed Teddy Bridgewater back to improve team camaraderie, and his pal Jameson Williams may benefit the most from his return.
The Detroit Lions are bringing back veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater for the stretch drive, a decision that is more about intangibles than roster insurance.
Perhaps the most valuable intangible Bridgewater can provide the Lions at this point? Jameson Williams is locked in and pleased, and a brotherly influence will return right before the playoff crunch time.
Dan Campbell feels Bridgewater’s return to the locker room will be a valuable asset at the correct time of the season.
“It simply adds a degree of professionalism, (a) experienced presence. Someone who is an excellent fit for our team. He’s ideal for the role. This does not imply that we are disappointed with Hendon Hooker. This provides us someone who has played a lot in the NFL. We’re preparing for the playoffs, so it’ll be great to have him back.”
That is especially true for Williams, who had a close relationship with Bridgewater last season. After a rough 2024 season, Bridgewater’s return might be what motivates Williams to raise his game to a more consistent level.
Bridgewater may offer Williams with a familiar face, motivating him to step up his game ahead of the playoffs. Williams should be even more pleased with his return than the Lions are.
Dan Campbell feels Teddy Bridgewater can coach other young players.
The Lions are hoping Bridgewater can replicate his success with Williams with other young players. Playoff success may be about morale, and Campbell believes Bridgewater has a great influence on others in the locker room.
“I believe it’s fantastic for our squad. I believe everyone in that locker room appreciates Teddy (Bridgewater) for what he stands for, as a human being and as a player. When he gets his sea legs back, he’ll put those men through some defensive drills, which is terrific practice. I simply feel that when you find men who make everyone around them a little better, it’s difficult not to have them around.”
Last season, Williams made progress toward becoming the player the Lions feel he is. After a rocky start to the year, there is renewed optimism that he will be able to maintain his momentum. Bringing a guy like Bridgewater back into the locker room is a wise decision for a club with championship ambitions.
NFL commentator openly disregards Jameson Williams’ interests with wacky take.

Jameson Williams is certainly enjoying the finest season of his career, but one expert has gone a bit too far in speculating about something.
In Week 16 against the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams recorded a career-high 143 yards, including an 82-yard touchdown. Head coach Dan Campbell praised Williams’ performance as the greatest of his career.
Williams might have reached 1,000 yards for the season if he hadn’t missed two games due to a suspension and two additional games in which he had two catches for five yards. Despite being 110 yards short with two games remaining, he appears to be on track to achieve his goal. His 18.9 yards per catch is the greatest in the NFL among players with at least 30 receptions this season, and his relationship with Jared Goff has grown as expected.
When speaking to reporters on Friday, Williams expressed some expected sentiments about achieving his first 1,000-yard season.
According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Williams acknowledged being aware of the situation. “I’m not trying to force it, though. We still have two games ahead of us, and the important thing is to win as a team. If it arrives, it’s coming. It’s on my mind, of course, but there’s nothing to worry about.”
NFL analyst completely disregards where Jameson Williams’ interests are
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk drew on a recent piece regarding wide receiver George Pickens and his potential departure from the Pittsburgh Steelers this summer to discuss Williams.
“Williams currently leads the league in yards per reception at 18.94. Williams, like Steelers receiver George Pickens, is eligible for a second contract after the regular season finishes. Williams, like Pickens, has torn his ACL. Williams, like Pickens, may want a second deal before taking on more danger of injury during postseason games.
What?
In the preceding column, Florio referred to Birkett’s story with Williams’ comment regarding the “main priority” of a team triumph over his own success. Then Florio ignored the direct comment and attempted to relate Williams to another receiver in his selection class in a specific way.
Aside from that, Pickens and Williams are polar opposites. Williams has experienced his setbacks, but he has certainly grown as a player and as a guy this year. Pickens is always a danger of doing something outrageously idiotic during a game, and the next time he causes a headache is always just around the corner.
It’s hardly impossible that Pickens, as Florio noted in his profile, “might even want it (a financial reward)” before the Wild Card Round. Perhaps he’d threaten to sit out or make a half-hearted effort on the field if he didn’t receive it. It would be surprising if Williams took that approach heading into the playoffs. In fact, let’s just say that wouldn’t happen, and the only thing he has in common with Pickens is that he’s in his third NFL season.
