Denver Broncos Placekicker Wil Lutz signed a contract with Broncos until 2027.
Wil Lutz, the Denver Broncos’ placekicker, has solidified his position with the team by signing a two-year contract extension in March 2024, ensuring his presence through the 2025 season.
Lutz’s journey with the Broncos began in August 2023 when he was acquired from the New Orleans Saints in exchange for a 2024 seventh-round pick.
In his inaugural season with Denver, Lutz showcased remarkable consistency, converting 30 of 34 field-goal attempts and 29 of 31 extra-point attempts.
His performance earned him the AFC Special Teams Player of the Month award for November 2023.
The contract extension, valued at $8.4 million over two years, includes $4.51 million in fully guaranteed money.
The breakdown is as follows:
- 2024: $3.3 million signing bonus (fully guaranteed), $1.21 million base salary, resulting in a cap charge of $2.86 million.
- 2025: $3.635 million base salary, $255,000 per-game roster bonuses, leading to a cap charge of $5.54 million.
Lutz’s decision to remain with the Broncos came after initially agreeing to a three-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He reconsidered and chose to stay in Denver, signing the two-year contract.
