Dublin GAA star James McCarthy and wife Clodagh welcome baby boy
Dublin GAA captain James McCarthy and his wife Clodagh have welcomed a baby boy named Conall.
The happy news was shared by James’ GAA club Ballymun Kickhams on social media. They posted: “We would like to extend our congratulations to James McCarthy and his wife Clodagh on the arrival of baby Conall Michael McCarthy,”
James had revealed that he and Clodagh were expecting their first child back in November when she was six months pregnant, RSVP Live reports. Clodagh had said at the time: “We are eight years together and now we have a baby coming,”
James also joked about needing to figure out things like adjusting to less sleep and balancing his football training with being a new dad. The news comes two years after James and Clodagh’s beautiful winter wedding at Luttrellstown Castle Resort in County Dublin in December 2022.
The couple got engaged in 2020 and celebrated their big day surrounded by James’ GAA teammates including Paul Flynn, Brian Fenton, Jason Sherlock, Dean Rock, Michael Darragh MacAulay, John Small and Stephen Cluxton. James is a well-loved footballer in Dublin and at 33, he’s won many titles with the boys in blue.
He first played for Dublin against Laois in the Leinster Senior Football Championship in 2011. Since then, he’s won eight All-Ireland Senior Football Championships and 12 Leinster Senior Football Championships. He also has five National Football League medals.
When he’s not playing GAA, James works as a Business Development Manager for EBS in Swords.
