Finance Expert: New Everton fear over second points deduction already

Dan Plumley has insisted that Everton will fear that the Premier League could dock them the four points handed back to them in their second PSR charge hearing.

The Premier League initially handed the Toffees a 10-point deduction, which was reduced to six for their first breach of the rules at Goodison Park.

The football finance expert admitted that the Premier League have made a benchmark with their first decision, so it will be interesting to see if that sticks.

“I think it’s a fear,” he exclusively told Goodison News.

“We could all see this coming as well, it’s there in the background and we were waiting on this first verdict and the appeal. We are not quite sure whether or not we are in the realm of ‘does that constitute now a good benchmark?’

If you look at the breach, £19.5million I think was the breach they arrived at in the verdict and that’s ended up with a six-point deduction, so does that give some scope to say, if your breach is x million, that equals x points?

We’ve never been there but perhaps we should have been, so if the next breach, how much is it? What is the back story with Everton?

Despite the fact we have got an answer, there is still a lot we don’t know about what happens with the next couple of cases and I’m sure Nottingham Forest will be waiting on similar questions as well.

“Whenever that is there, there is still a fear and we have now seen a points deduction that has gone through the Premier League, gone through an independent commission and when you are looking at benchmarks, you’re looking at a six-point deduction for a £19.5million breach, so naturally, even if you didn’t want to set a benchmark, you have set some kind of benchmark and that will be interesting to look at.”

Are Everton set for another Premier League points deduction?

Kaveh Solhekol has suggested already that another six-point deduction is “Very likely”, although nothing else has come out to support that.

Hopefully, the Premier League use common sense given that they were working closely with Everton during this period, not to much success, it seems.
