Hopefully Callum McGregor can shake off injury ahead of title run-in

Callum McGregor missed training on Friday with what was later reported to be an issue with his Achilles and calf. That’s not the news we wanted to hear, as despite some of our support writing him off this season the skipper is still a very valuable player for us.

Callum is the first name on the team sheet and not just because he’s the captain, but because he’s a very talented player.

You could say he’s the heartbeat of our midfield. He may not have the goals or assists of Reo Hatate or the goal scoring ability of Matt O’Riley, but he makes us tick in the middle of the park. He can pick a pass, he’s a leader, he’s calm and composed, he’s experienced and he always gives one hundred percent.

Some amongst our support don’t rate Callum, but I can guarantee you that they will appreciate him all the more when he’s not in the side. Let’s just hope it doesn’t come to that.

Like all good players, you don’t appreciate them until they are no longer around. We’ve had a lot of success these past few years and Callum has played a massive part in that.

Sundays game is a massive one, it’s vital and we need our best players fit and available, and Callum is one of our best players. Let’s just hope and pray he shakes off his injury problem and is declared fit to play.
