‘I’ve been there’: Aiden McGeady picks favourite to win Scottish Premiership title – Celtic or Rangers
Rangers will still feel frustration after being unable to take on Dundee on the weekend, with their League game postponed at the last minute – and Aiden McGeady says it hands Celtic an advantage.
Celtic are hunting for a third consecutive Premiership title but some tricky form around the halfway stage has allowed Rangers to catch-up. Celtic sit top, but only by a point in a brilliant race for the title.
Rangers were supposed to play against Dundee on Sunday. But, Dundee called the game off at the last minute – prompting an angry response from Rangers on social media, clearly frustrated not to play.
Indeed, it leaves Philippe Clement’s side in second place going into the international break – even if they do have a game. With nine games to play, Rangers would have loved to go into the break two ahead.
But that is not the case, coming as a bit of a surprise. Speaking to the Scottish Football podcast, former Celtic man McGeady thinks that psychologically – it hands his old side the advantage over Rangers.
“It leaves Celtic top of the league going into the international break with Rangers playing catch-up now, which psychologically – I’ve been there when you’re playing catch-up,” McGeady said on Monday.
“You’re the ones that have to keep winning to maintain pace, keep up with your rivals psychologically. The focus now shifts back to Rangers when it could have been slightly different if it went ahead.”

The two have obviously got to play each other twice before the end of the season. Once before the split, and once after. Realistically, the results of those games will be the decider in the race for the league title.
Right now, you’d have to say Rangers are leading the race because they have a game in hand – but the pressure, as McGeady says, is also on them and it will be interesting to see how they deal with that.
