Joe Hart takes to Instagram after Celtic defeat Livingston, thinks teammate was ‘superb’

Celtic find themselves in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup after seeing off Livingston in an enthralling encounter at Parkhead.

Daizen Maeda’s trio of strikes on his 100th appearance for the club, alongside a late Kyogo Furuhashi goal, proved to be enough on the day to see the Bhoys through to the last four; however, the visitors played their part, responding through Daniel McKay and Tete Yengi.

Nevertheless, Brendan Rodgers’ men deserved their victory, and the Irishman praised his side for handling ‘disruption’ thrown their way in the lead-up to the cup tie.

The Irishman stated on his enforced personnel changes: “The players deserve credit for that. Some of them haven’t played a lot. Matt O’Riley wasn’t well all week, Stephen Welsh came in at the last minute, Nicolas (Kuhn) coming in after not featuring. There was a little bit of disruption there, but the guys got the job done in the end.”

Looking ahead, we now await confirmation of our opponents at Hampden, who will be announced tonight following the conclusion of Greenock Morton vs Heart of Midlothian.

Fans keen to tune in can find out live on BBC Scotland; meanwhile, there is also the chance to watch the Women’s Scottish Cup semi-final draw during the half-time break at Cappielow.

Joe Hart takes to Instagram after Celtic see off Livingston

Joe Hart played an important role in the Bhoys’ 4-2 triumph against Livingston, as he pulled off an important stop to deny Michael Nottingham’s header just before the hour mark, which could’ve given the visitors the initiative at Parkhead.

The former England international has since taken to Instagram amid his side booking their place at Hampden and was clearly buzzing for his teammate Maeda due to his hat-trick, stating ‘into the semis (followed by a green heart emoji) superb today @m_daizen0827.’

Hart also included a salute emoji and another green heart, summing up a positive day at the office for Celtic that Maeda had a major influence on due to his positional awareness.

Undoubtedly, there was a need to see a reaction from the disappointing defeat against Heart of Midlothian at Tynecastle, and there is now plenty to build on from our perspective heading into our home clash against St Johnstone this weekend.
