Josh Wander summoned to court over explicit photo after PL talks held over Everton – report

Josh Wander and 777 Partners have declined to comment on mounting legal issues following face-to-face talks with the Premier League this week on the Everton takeover, according to The Times.

Martin Ziegler wrote for the paper’s website on 8 March that the company’s co-founder had now met with the league authorities during the week regarding the long-delayed matter, amid various legal complications.

While the US company is involved in a financial dispute with Obra Capital over a debt repayment, Wander has now separately been subpoenaed by the model Nina Agdal, partner of YouTuber Logan Paul, in her court case against MMA fighter Dillon Danis.

While the prospective Everton owner is not being sued himself he is being called to testify after court filings reportedly stated Agdal “maintains” Wander took and shared an explicit photograph of her without consent, which was allegedly then posted online by Dannis in the build up to his boxing match with Paul this year.

Wander reportedly responded to a district court in Florida that he “flatly denies this baseless allegation” which he claims is “gravely untrue”.

Legal issues mount for 777 Partners co-founder amid Everton takeover delay

The fact that talks have finally been held in person between Wander and representatives of the Premier League, having been left in the dark of the meeting, should be a positive step towards the Toffees finally getting some clarity on their ownership question.

Yet that development being overshadowed by two separate court cases, one involving 777 and one involving Wander, seems symptomatic of why there have been so many claims that the takeover won’t go ahead.

From a purely PR perspective it isn’t a great look to be involved in these disputes whatever the outcome, and if Richard Masters’ office still hasn’t made a decision they are bound to be interested in such developments.

Evertonians could be forgiven for wondering quite how they got to this, but a long series of missteps by those running the club have ultimately led here.

There is so much unwanted noise around the 777 bid that it might be tempting for some to hope for one of the alternative buyers to get the opportunity to work out a deal instead, if and when the current one doesn’t get the green light.

Although it is perhaps worth questioning where they all were when Wander and company secured a deal with Farhad Moshiri in September after talks with MSD Sports Capital fell through.
