‘Made my feelings clear’: Mark Wilson delivers his verdict on Liel Abada’s Celtic exit

Liel Abada’s Celtic exit was one that has been coming for number of months now.

The Celtic winger was clearly unhappy at Celtic after dealing with personal issues from his homeland and now he moves on to a new chapter in his career.

Liel Abada’s £10m move to Charlotte FC draws a close to his three year spell at Celtic and as both parties look to move on, Mark Wilson has shared how he really feels about the Israeli winger’s move from Parkhead.

Celtic could regret letting Liel Abada leave

The former Celtic defender is clearly a big fan of Abada but, in fairness, so were plenty of Celtic fans.

His goals against Rangers in his maiden season (alongside the last-minute winner against Dundee United) where crucial in helping Celtic win the title back in 2022/23.

Abada also scored in last season’s Scottish Cup Final to help seal a record-breaking eighth domestic treble so he will always be fondly remembered by the Hoops fans.

But Wilson reckons that Abada is going to be a huge loss and hints that Rodgers will miss the winger’s goals and assists now that he’s gone.

Wilson said [Superscoreboard], “I’ve made my feelings clear on that. I think he’s a huge loss for Celtic. I get he wasn’t the Jota, he wasn’t the flash winger with flicks and tricks.

“But if you get a winger that’s effective at the top end of the pitch that’s scoring plenty of goals and plenty of assists then he’s really worth his weight in gold.

“He’s away now and Celtic really need to replace that void.”

Tipped to be an ideal replacement for Jota, injury really curtailed Abada’s start to the season under Brendan Rodgers.

Out for four months, the Israeli struggled to win his place back into the side. Especially when his personal issues kicked in.

Now that he’s gone, we all wish him nothing but good luck after all the brilliant memories he gave us terrorising Rangers.
