Mikey Johnston West Brom loan red-hot form hit with harsh Celtic reality check
Mikey Johnston hit the ground running at West Brom since joining on loan from Celtic in January.
The winger, 24, has hit six goals and provided one assist in his nine outings for the Baggies already with punters heaping praise on his quality since he arrived at the Hawthorns. His time at Parkhead before that, this season, was not half as fruitful and that’s why former Hoops striker Andy Walker offered a harsh reality check to the Irishman who’s currently riding the crest of a wave down south in the Championship.
For the ex-hitman, he feels MJ is indeed reaping the benefits of playing at a club who have offered a starting spot. But no matter how well that six-month stint goes, Walker reckons Celtic fans WON’T want the playmaker back in Glasgow longer term.
“It is so difficult for the likes of Rocco Vata and anyone who wants to try and make a name for themselves,” he told GO Radio.
“You see what Mikey Johnston is doing at West Brom; he has gone to a great club, he is doing really well, he is scoring goals, he is creating chances. But I don’t think you would find many Celtic supporters who would want to have him back.”
