‘Outstanding’ £15m striker could be available for free this summer, he’s perfect for Celtic – opinion

This summer will probably be one of the biggest for Celtic in terms of transfer movement.

Brendan Rodgers is desperate to add quality to his side but with transfer interest high in a number of his own players, the Celtic manager could be forced to spend a large chunk of the club’s cash reserves just to bolster his first-team never mind his squad.

With a striker the main topic of conversation last month, Rodgers will find himself back to square one when Adam Idah returns to Norwich City from his loan spell. That’s unless the Hoops boss forks out the fee the Championship club want.

However, Rodgers could keep that £3m fee in the bank and look to sign a £15m striker who may be available for free when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Celtic could upgrade Adam Idah with Che Adams

The 27-year-old Southampton striker will become a free agent at the end of the season and with his experience in the Premier League and the Championship, he could do a job for the Hoops.

With 95 career goals and 37 assists in 395 games, Adams definitely has the ability to be a threat up front for Celtic.

With 26 caps to his name, he has plenty of international experience to boot. However, crucially, it’s Adams’ versatility that could be of importance to Celtic. [Transfermarkt]

The Southampton man has played various roles during his diverse career which range from lone striker to winger and attacking midfielder.

But recently, Brendan Rodgers has been using Adam Idah as a target man to support Kyogo. Adams can also play that role as he is physically strong but he’s also extremely pacy which can help on the counterattack.

His salary won’t present a huge issue as Adams is currently on £32k per week [SalarySport] and with no fee involved, Celtic could push the boat out in terms of wages for the player.
