Rangers title war cry reimagined as serial winner relays Ibrox message to Celtic ‘we’re coming to get ye’
The big two are separated only by goals scored after the Light Blues beat Ross County 3-1 at Ibrox.
Willie Miller has urged Rangers to send Celtic a title statement that reads: “We’re coming to get ye!”
The Ibrox club are never shy in the official communications stakes, and launched another joint release with their fellow SPFL rebels earlier today. But it’s on the park where the talking needs to be done and the message is loud and clear: there’s a title race on. Philippe Clement’s side didn’t hit the top of the table after beating Ross County 3-1 at Ibrox, but they are neck and neck in just about every metric with Celtic having been 7 points adrift just a few months ago.
But Miller wouldn’t bet against the Belgian moving up the grid into poll position given the Hoops propensity for dropping points this season. And he reckons hitting the summit would be the loudest indication yet that Gers have gone from title also rans to big game hunters, and Celtic will be left in no doubt that this is a proper scrap rather than another kiddy on challenge seen in previous campaigns.
It’s a game that managers play,” he told BBC Scotland. “Philippe Clement tries to play everything down – that’s his personality. But at the same time, you have a passion and he knows momentum is important and statements are important at this stage of the season.
“Celtic are on that run where they are not the dominant force that they were. Some games, they are really struggling. They;ve dropped points and that’s a big factor as well. Rangers have consistently taken the points but Celtic have dropped points which is unusual too, so that gap is closing and closing.
“If you can make that statement and make that leap, even if it’s just by goal difference, it doesn’t matter. It’s. statement that you;re making to your fans.
“It’s also a statement to that you;re making to the club on the other side of Glasgow and their fans too; this is a title race that you;re in and we’re coming to get ye!”
