Rangers will see a guaranteed change in their boardroom post the takeover despite the complicated situation at the club.

This comes as NFL giants San Francisco 49ers are linked with a takeover of the Ibrox outfit with their chief Paraag Marathe understood to be pushing for the deal.

Currently, Dave King has a 13 per cent stake in the Ibrox outfit, Douglas Park owns 11.5 per cent and George Taylor has over 10 per cent shareholdings in the club.

San Francisco 49ers’ takeover will guarantee seats on the Rangers board

Marathe, who is in charge of the NFL team’s investment arm, 49ers Enterprises, aims to make that consortium the largest single shareholder at the club.

The Scottish Sun reported on 19 February that should the takeover go through, this would “guarantee” seats on the board as multi-million investment is being eyed.

It would change the structure, however, given the “complex” situation of the shareholders, as illustrated above.

The York Family own the California-based NFL outfit and have an estimated net worth of £4.61billion which Marathe wants to use some of to transform the fortunes of the Ibrox outfit.

Dave King and Douglas Park may now be approached by the San Francisco 49ers

With King and Park being the two biggest shareholders, the 49ers may now opt to approach them to buy their stake.

If they want to be the single largest shareholders, they’re either going to have to buy them out or work with them as they procure shares from elsewhere.

It also remains to be seen what everyone’s stance is on American investment into the club as not many have wanted to leave their cushy boardroom position.

These certainly are exciting times for the fans as they desperately will want a change of ownership as the club has been run horribly for years, leading to rivals Celtic having supremacy over the last few years.
