‘Sensational’ – Euro club boss backs Rangers star to seal ‘Crazy’ summer transfer

Ianis Hagi will leave Rangers as a free agent at the end of the season barring any late changes to his contract situation.

The Romania international was forced to train away from the first-team squad at the start of the season due to a contract dispute with Rangers.

However, Hagi eventually returned to the fold in October after reaching an agreement with the Light Blues and went on to establish himself as a regular under Philippe Clement, who got sacked last month.

Having bagged three goals and seven assists in 19 Premiership appearances, the attacker has also started in both of the Gers’ games under Barry Ferguson so far.

Rangers, though, face the prospect of losing Hagi for free in the summer as his existing contract runs out at the end of the season.

Adrian Mutu tips Hagi for Turkey transfer

Turkey is already being mooted as a potential destination for Hagi and Adrian Mutu reckons that would be a great move for the player as his father, Gheorghe Hagi, is “super-loved” there for his exploits with Galatasaray.

While Italy is also a possible option, the Romania legend pointed out how the Rangers star failed to establish himself during his stint with Fiorentina between 2016 and 2018.

“It wouldn’t be bad for him to end up in Turkey. Gica [Gheorghe] is super-loved there, it would be crazy if he does well there, it would be something sensational for Ianis.”

Rangers woeful transfer business continues

Rangers have built a reputation for being terrible at doing transfer business, particularly after they sold five players, including Todd Cantwell, Connor Goldson and Sam Lammers, for a combined sum of £810,000.

Fans hoped the Glasgow giants would not repeat such mistakes, but they are now facing the prospect of losing a valuable player who is entering his prime for nothing.

With 49ers Enterprises reaching an agreement over a takeover, supporters will hope that there will be big changes to how the club is run, especially with regard to player trading and recruitment.
