‘That’s what excites me’… Adam Idah opens up on main reasons behind his excellent Celtic form

Celtic striker Adam Idah has become a prominent feature of Brendan Rodgers’ attack since moving to Parkhead on loan last month.

The Republic of Ireland international arrived to little fanfare on deadline day; however, it is hard to think where the Bhoys would be without his contribution.

Following an assist on his debut away to Aberdeen, Idah scored two pressure penalties against Hibernian at Easter Road, earning a last-gasp victory for the Bhoys amid their ongoing battle to win the Scottish Premiership.

Last weekend, the 23-year-old came off the bench to replace Kyogo Furuhashi at Motherwell, with his side needing to overturn a one-goal deficit at the interval.

Making a habit of becoming the hero, Idah responded by scoring a brace at Fir Park, including a 94th-minute strike to ensure his side didn’t fall further behind Rangers in the title race.

Come tomorrow night, it would be a huge surprise if Idah weren’t selected to play from the start against Dundee amid his excellent form.

Reports in Ireland claim that he could be available for a fee in excess of £3 million upon the expiration of his loan agreement this summer, which may be a price too good to pass up if he continues to deliver.

Adam Idah reveals main reasons behind his Celtic form

Idah embodies a character with a cool persona and doesn’t seem too fazed by the prospect of leading the line for Celtic.

Despite the pressure associated with wearing the green and white shirt, the Cork-born man had admitted that he thrives off the added expectation bestowed upon his shoulders.

He explained [Cited via The Celtic Way]: “Look, there’s always going to be pressure going into any game. There’s always pressure at Celtic because it’s such a big club, and the demands on everyone are huge.”

He later added: “I think I thrive off pressure. That’s what excites me. For a lot of players, that’s what you play football for. That pressure gives you that bit of motivation. I know for me, that’s when I play my best.”

Admittedly, Idah is still early into his Celtic career; nevertheless, he has passed every test thrown at him so far with flying colours.

Regardless if there are conversations in the works surrounding his long-term future, all he can do is keep taking his chance to shine on the pitch.

Rodgers described his contribution last Sunday as ‘outstanding’ and there is every chance he could’ve played his way into an extended run in the former Liverpool manager’s starting line-up over the coming weeks.
