The Rangers’ failure ‘Hated playing against’ Phil Jones is predicted to play a significant role for Manchester United under Ruben Amorim.

He may not have established himself as a Rangers star.

However, Amad Diallo arrived at Ibrox back in 2022 and was considered a huge coup for the Ibrox club.

Now he is seemingly finally living up to his potential having joined Manchester United from Atalanta all the way back in 2021 for a pretty penny at £19million.

Amad managed 13 appearances in his time in Glasgow and provided just the three goals with no assists which, for a winger, can hardly be considered an accomplishment.

He would leave Gers and find a bit more success with Sunderland and then back at Old Trafford and now he is being tipped to have a major role in new manager Ruben Amorim’s Red Devils squad.

Under former interim head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy, Amad hit two goals and an assist as a Man United player and seemed to have found a new lease on life.

And now ex-United centre-half Phil Jones believes it is finally time for the Ivorian to fulfil his promise.

Amad Diallo struggled at Rangers and left after being frozen out

He wants his old pal to establish himself as a top player for Amorim in the Premier League.

Jones worked with the 22-year-old previously before the Englishman opted to retire and try his hand at coaching full-time.

And he explained how the talented and tricky winger was one of the players he hated facing in training the most as his skills with the ball were incredible.

What Phil Jones said about ‘terrific’ Amad Diallo

Speaking to the Mirror, Jones said: “Amad is a terrific player.

“I love watching him, but I hated playing against him in training. He’s so quick with the ball.

“I think the game that stood out for me with Amad was the one where we played Liverpool in the FA Cup and he scored that late winner.

“I was there with my little girl, and I remember saying then that this guy would play a huge part next season, and I think I’m being proved right.”
