Tory MP shares what Rangers need in next manager amid Clement sack news

Rangers have been told what they should look for in a new manager by a Tory MP after it emerged that Philippe Clement has been sacked.

Clement’s future at Ibrox became a major topic of discussion once again after Rangers lost 2-0 to St. Mirren in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday (22 February), with the opportunity to reduce the gap with Celtic to 10 points going down the drain.

Patrick Stewart insisted that the Light Blues would stick by the Belgian tactician earlier in the week and it was unclear if the defeat against St. Mirren at home would be enough for the decision-makers to pull the plug on him.

However, the Premiership giants have decided to relieve Clement of his duties after a board meeting on Sunday (23 February) afternoon, with players already informed of the manager’s exit.

Murdo Fraser wants manager like Jock Wallace

Fans and pundits have been providing their reactions after the news about Clement’s sacking emerged in the media on Sunday evening, with one politician unable to resist chiming in.

Rangers-mad Tory MP Mudo Fraser reckons the Light Blues should hire someone like Jock Wallace would show no mercy towards the “overpaid, underperforming” players in the squad now that Clement has been sacked.

“Time for Rangers to reinstate the Big Jock Wallace style of management, getting these overpaid, underperforming players running up the Gullane dunes until they vomit”, Fraser wrote on X.

Rangers sack Clement

With the likes of Chris Jack confirming Clement’s sack, all that is left for Rangers to do is officially announce the decision.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen how much money the Premiership heavyweights will pay Clement in compensation as the Record reported that the package would be more than the initially reported sum of £1.2million.

As for the trip to Kilmarnock on Wednesday (26 February), the Light Blues are expected to appoint an interim manager after confirming Clement’s exit.
