Ugurcan Cakir watched by Celtic as Turkey goalie ‘eyed’ as Joe Hart replacement
Ugurcan Cakir is reportedly being monitored by Celtic as they weigh up a summer replacement for the retiring Joe Hart.
The current number one, 36, is ready to hang up the gloves at the end of the season and that leaves Brendan Rodgers with just Scott Bain and Ben Siegrist who has also emerged as an Aberdeen summer target. The manager will head into the transfer market- and Trabzonspor captain Cakir is believed to be on a watchlist at Parkhead.
Reports in Turkey claim the Hoops have already had Cakir scouted as he is expected to move on from his club after spending 12 years there.
The stopper is a full international with 26 caps to his name and has previously been linked with the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool. He also had a move to Southampton break down last year.
He’s expected to command a bumper price tag and that could scupper Celtic’s move for the player should they opt to table an official bid. Cakir is contracted until 2027.
