‘Very worried’ – Simon Jordan shares 777-Everton takeover update live on talkSPORT

Simon Jordan has told Everton fans they should be worried about the possibility of a takeover by 777 Partners given their issues behind the scenes.

The former Crystal Palace owner questioned the validity of their funding and income, suggesting the near-£200million the group have already lent to the club is not theirs.

Jordan also suggested that, despite what Farhad Moshiri has insisted, the takeover deal is not a good one for the club, but rather for 777.

Speaking live on talkSPORT [20 February, 10:15] Jordan ranted: “There’s a lot to be said about this 777 because if you look behind the scenes at where the money is coming from, I’m not entirely sure the money they’ve lent Everton is theirs.

“Everton is being used to justify some of the funding they’ve got on other football clubs, so if I was an Everton fan I’d be very worried, and I think they are.

“With this group of people, if you look into their background, this does not look like a great transaction for Everton Football Club. It’s a good one for 777 Partners. Everton are out of frying pan here, and they may just be in the fire.”

What is happening with the Everton-777 takeover?

777 Partners are still awaiting a verdict from the Premier League’s owners and directors test to be granted permission to complete their takeover of Everton.

This has come while they have been regularly loaning money to the club to support day-to-day operations while the takeover is pending and at the same time, racking up the club’s debts.

The group have a number of their own issues to contend with behind the scenes. They have begun making major cuts to their staff both in London and Miami, adding to a long list of concerns surrounding their eligibility to own the club.

Plenty of uncertainty still clouds this deal, with no end in sight, and Jordan’s latest verdict warning fans to be worried will have done nothing to ease the nerves of the Goodison Park faithful.
