Sean Dyche has been talking to the press ahead of Everton’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on Monday evening.

The Toffees are looking to register their first win of 2024 and pull themselves within touching distance of Crystal Palace, who currently sit five points ahead

The Eagles are currently in turmoil, with confusion over whether Roy Hodgson will be in the dugout come Monday evening.

I think it is a very unsavoury situation if Hodgson even has to front up to the media today and answer questions when everyone in the room knows his time at Palace is coming to an end,” said talkSPORT’s chief football reporter Alex Crook.

If he does have to board the coach to Everton on Monday for what is a massive game it has to be said, is quite frankly a ridiculous situation.”

Everton have been boosted by the return of Abdoulaye Doucouré, with the 31-year-old set to return after missing several weeks with a hamstring issue. Seamus Coleman and Ben Godfrey are also fit for Monday night’s fixture.

Andre Gomes back on grass for Everton

Speaking to the press ahead of the Toffees’ latest Premier League fixture, Dyche also confirmed that Andre Gomes is back on grass after missing nearly a month with a calve issue.

Both of them [Andre Gomes and Arnaute Danjuma], Andre is back on the grass but it’s got to be a delicate one with his calves as he’s had a few of them now. We have got to be careful with that,” Dyche told Sky Sports News.

Gomes, 30, signed for the Toffees in 2019 for a reported fee of £22million. However, injuries and poor form have hampered the Portuguese midfielder, who could depart for nothing during the summer window.

Gomes’ last outing was against Crystal Palace during Everton’s FA Cup triumph in mid-January. However, the midfielder hasn’t featured in the Premier League since the Toffees’ 3-0 loss to Wolves at the end of December.

Dyche has praised the 30-year-old this season, with his performance during the 2-1 away defeat to Tottenham catching the eye.

“I thought he was excellent,” the Everton boss told The Echo.

“I thought the way he adapted to the game after the first seven-eight minutes was excellent and his adaptability within the role, he played higher up and he dropped in and some of his passing was excellent today.”
