Minnesota Vikings trade reports are fuelled by new information from insiders in the area
No one really thought that the Minnesota Vikings would be one of the biggest trade deadline buys in the NFL before the season started. It didn’t help that they only had three picks in the 2025 NFL Draft to start the season. But mostly, no one thought that a team whose preseason win total was set at just 6.5 wins would be one of the best in the league.
But now they have a great 5-0 record and are going into a very important game on Sunday against the 4-1 Lions. The winner will be in first place in the NFC North going into Week 8. If the Vikings win, they might be more active in their trades before the NFL trade deadline on November 5. A local Vikings source recently talked about that very possibility.

Could the Vikings make a big move at the trade deadline?

As was already said, Darren Wolfson of SKOR North recently talked about some famous deal reports about the Minnesota Vikings that were going around the Land of 10,000 Lakes.
“Doogie” said this when asked if the Vikings could go all-in before the Nov. 5 deal deadline, like the Rams did and say “F them picks”:
“There is no such thing as 0%.” It is possible for it to happen. I think it gets even more exciting if they beat Detroit on Sunday and make a bigger gap in what looks like the best football division. Is it possible that Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has thought about that at least a little? Yes. Who is that player now? Is that Panthers’ Jaycee Horn? I think we should go after Greg Newsome, a safety in Cleveland. What about Justin Simmons? The contracts of all of these guys haven’t been looked at by me.
Though the rules have changed, there are still some things that people think about Simmons that were true when he was available for the draft. There were a lot of good things said about him before the draft. I also don’t think he’s done anything to change your mind. Great player, and I don’t think the Titans would trade him.
Darren Wolfson on the trade deadline for the Vikings
Since Wolfson is, as you might expect, very busy, we took the time to look into these players’ contracts further.
How well does Jaycee Horn’s move fit for the Vikings?
The first person he talked about is young Panthers defender Jaycee Horn, whose father used to play wide receiver for the Saints in the NFL. It’s interesting that the 24-year-old’s deal doesn’t end until 2025. You can still sign him for another year, so he might be one of the best choices to improve the backup, both now and in the future.
Pro Football Focus ranks Horn as the 36th best cornerback out of 102 eligible players going into Week 7. Cornerbacks for the Vikings are ranked 33rd (Gilmore), 65th (Murphy), and 71st (Griffin). Still, it’s important to remember that none of the three are signed for next season. Adding Horn would make things safer in the long run.

How well does Greg Newsome’s move fit for the Vikings?
Fox chose Cleveland safety Greg Newsome II as the second player he called. In the same way that Horn is, the 24-year-old former first-round pick is also under contract for this season and the next. The Browns are 1-5, so they might be able to make a deal to escape a similar start next year.
But Newsome doesn’t have nearly as much proof as Horn. At the moment, he is ranked 96th out of 102 qualified cornerbacks. In his best season, he was ranked 31st, but that was his first year. In his second season, Newsome was rated as the 34th best NFL CB. The next year, he dropped to 55th.
Today the #Browns officially picked up CB Greg Newsome’s 5th year option (13.377M in 2025)

As of now, the Browns and their young cornerback haven’t agreed to a new deal. Adofo-Mensah’s connections with Cleveland’s front office could help the two teams make a move. The Vikings wouldn’t have to give up their first-round pick to trade for Newsome, which could make him a more appealing option.
Checking to see if Jeffery Simmons is a good trade fit for the Vikings
This is the big guy. Simmons is a guy that could make the Vikings give up a future first-round pick. This defensive end is one of the best in the NFL. He has been named to the second team of All-Pro twice. But he just signed a $94 million, four-year deal last year. He is also a good deal option because his contract security makes him a good choice. He is under contract until 2027.
Even though the Titans didn’t want to move their two-time Pro Bowl DT when the season began, they’re now 1-4 and Will Levis isn’t playing like a superstar QB. Because Tennessee has been having trouble, they may decide to look for a new star quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft. Having extra money to move up in the draft could be appealing.
Simmons is an important player for the defense. He is 27 years old and averaged 7.1 sacks per season from 2022 to 2023. Simmons is also regularly rated as one of the best defensive run-stuffers in the NFL. He is the seventh-best run stopper among interior tackles going into Week 7. Harrison Phillips comes in at number 24. We love Horrible Harry a lot.

There’s no question that Simmons would be a big improvement. Also, after Alim McNeill and Kenny Clark signed contracts, the class of free agents for interior defenders in 2025 isn’t very good. Giving up a pick in the 20s or even 30s for a proven star wouldn’t be a bad idea at all if the Vikings stay on track to pick late in the first round. But only if Tennessee is ready to hear it.
“I see guys being lazy,” says NFL great as he slams famous team for “terrible” play after terrible loss
Troy, tell us how you really feel!
The legendary Pro Football Hall of Famer and Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Troy Aikman didn’t say a word about his old team, especially their wide receivers, in a radio interview on Thursday.
It was a huge loss for Dallas as they lost 47–9 to the Detroit Lions in Week 6, not scoring a single score.Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb managed to get 89 yards on seven catches, but no Dallas player has ever gotten more than 100 yards in a game this season.Jayden Daniels of the Commanders has won an amazing five Rookie of the Week awards in just six weeks.
Aikman didn’t hold back at all when he talked about it on 96.7 The Ticket in Dallas.
Aikman said, “I think they run terrible routes.” “And I’ve thought about that past this year.” I believe CeeDee needs to get better at running his routes. You can’t do your job as a quarterback if you don’t know where your players will be all the time. I see that.
“I see guys being lazy as they leave the line of scrimmage.” They run sometimes, but usually when they do, it’s because they think they’ll get the ball on that play. If they don’t think that, they don’t run. It all fits together. “That part of it doesn’t grab me.”

He’s not false or wrong, but Dallas has a lot more issues than just their wide outs… I mean, really, a 47-9 loss?
That’s a mistake in every way.
Second injury report for the Lions in Week 7 is very scary for their game against the Vikings
While the Detroit Lions initiated their preparations for a significant Week 7 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings on Wednesday, reporters on the scene expressed some concern regarding the open portion of practice. However, the injury report for the day was not as severe as it appeared to be.
Especially when notable names are included in a team’s initial injury report of a typical week, Wednesday injury reports can be simple to overreact to. However, they are also difficult to extract a significant amount of information from, as they frequently involve general leisure days or restricted participation as a result of a relatively minor injury.
However, the encounter on Thursday will be more significant in terms of the player’s inclusion in the final injury report of the week on Friday. In that regard, the Lions are facing a significant prospective concern with respect to Sunday’s game.
The Lions’ practice summary for Thursday is provided below.
The second Detroit Lions injury in Week 7 has raised significant concerns.
CB Carlton Davis (quad): Non-participant
OG Kevin Zeitler (groin): Limited participation
Database Brian Branch: Full participant (knee)
C Frank Ragnow (reserve): Active participant
Full participant: Dan Skipper, OT (ribs)
OG Christian Mahogany (illness)-Complete participant
Davis withdrew from the Cowboys’ Week 6 game; however, he successfully completed the concussion protocol and had the opportunity to return had the game not been a rout. He has now missed the first two days of the practice week due to the quad injury, which is a new (or previously undisclosed) issue.
On Wednesday, Ragnow and Zeitler were granted veteran rest days. On Thursday, Zeitler was added to the injury report as a limited player as a result of a groin issue.
After being restricted on Wednesday, Branch resumed a complete practice.
After failing to practice on Wednesday, Skipper was a full participant on Thursday.
Mahogany is recuperating from an ailment that prevented him from participating in training camp. He has 11 days remaining in the 21-day window to be added to the active roster, or he will be subject to season-ending injury.
Of course, the Lions will be confronted with Justin Jefferson this week, whom defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn referred to as the “best wide receiver in the NFL” during his Thursday press conference. Davis is expected to face Jefferson on Sunday, and if he is unable to do so, Kindle Vildor would be the likely replacement. Vildor is not a starting-caliber NFL cornerback, and the Vikings will have a target on his back if he is selected. I mean no disrespect to him. Ennis Rakestraw, a rookie, may also be eligible for a more significant role.
