Is there a possibility that Ty Chandler may lose his RB2 spot for Minnesota Vikings?
Cam Akers was acquired by the Minnesota Vikings from the Houston Texans in a recent trade. Initially, it appeared that this was in response to the injury that Aaron Jones sustained against the New York Jets. However, it is now apparent that the Vikings’ primary running back will engage in a game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, some days later. However, what transpires as the depth chart progresses?
Chandler was responsible for the entirety of the second half after Jones’s injury, and his performance was not particularly impressive. He carried the ball 14 times, but he only managed to cover 30 yards during each of those carries. I am alarmed.
The transfer of Cam Akers suggests that Ty Chandler’s number of appearances is decreasing.
With the increasing optimism regarding Aaron Jones’ health, it is evident that the Vikings were not as concerned about the individual who would succeed him as RB1. Rather, it seems that the recently acquired Cam Akers was brought in to compete for Minnesota’s RB2 position, following Chandler’s underwhelming season-opening performance.
Darren Wolfson, a local insider, is also hearing this. Late this week, he disclosed his innermost thoughts to the Mackey & Judd Show (SKOR North). The objects in Ty Chandler’s mirror are closer than they appear.
“I have the impression that the focus is primarily on Ty Chandler.” This is the reason they were so interested in re-signing Cam Akers in early July. Additionally, investigating additional prospective strategies. I am uncertain as to whether they have ever been entirely behind Ty Chandler. Was it the London blunder? Now, I believe that he captures that pass 98 out of 100 times, so I am not overly concerned about it. I comprehend it when I consider the comprehensive bundle. I am certain that Cam Akers will eventually surpass Ty Chandler, possibly as soon as Sunday. “Cam Akers is projected to emerge as the second-best running back.”
It is logical for the Minnesota Vikings to transition to Akers at RB2.
After Alexander Mattison failed to satisfy Kevin O’Connell’s expectations for legitimate RB1 value last season, the Vikings acquired Cam Akers. At that time, Akers was the first to attempt to assume the starting role from the current Raider. Chandler did not receive a genuine opportunity until Akers was sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a ruptured Achilles tendon.
A play that hasn’t been talked about enough today

Last year, Minnesota’s Akers averaged only 3.6 yards per carry on 38 attempts. However, even if he is a marginal improvement over Chandler in the run game, there is no doubt that Akers provides superior pass protection and all of the intangibles. Since the commencement of his NFL tenure, these factors have impeded his progress.
It is logical for Kwesi and Kevin to add more depth, as Jones is already over halfway to his career record for strike count. In order to secure a victory against their most formidable divisional opponent on Sunday, Minnesota will require their entire roster to contribute.
Cam Akers is noted in this article.
