Novak Djokovic is on the cusp of a significant advantage in his pursuit of qualification for the ATP Finals

Novak Djokovic has been participating in the Six Kings Slam exhibition event in Saudi Arabia in an effort to secure a spot in the ATP Finals next month. However, he has received significant encouragement in his pursuit of the big money.

The 24-time Grand Slam-winning legend has maintained that his primary objective in the final phase of his career is to enhance his collection of major titles and to assist Serbia in winning the 2025 Davis Cup Finals in Malaga, rather than focusing on qualification for Turin this year.

Djokovic made these remarks after representing his nation in the Davis Cup last month, in which he appeared to indicate that he was not motivated to affirm his participation in the ATP Finals in Turin at this late juncture of his career.

A few weeks ago, Djokovic was significantly behind the top eight players in the calendar year in the quest to qualify for the ATP Final in Turin.

That may have been one of the reasons he made these comments after playing for Serbia in the Davis Cup last month.

“I am not pursuing the ATP Finals or the rankings; in fact, Torino is not my objective at all,” he stated.

“I am satisfied with the conclusion of those tournaments in terms of my professional career.” I am unable to determine whether I will participate in additional tournaments this year or in the future at this time.

Playing for the national team and winning championships are my primary objectives; all other matters are secondary.

Djokovic may not be preoccupied with defending the ATP Finals title he secured by defeating Jannik Sinner in the Turin Final last year, but he is now in a solid position to requalify for the tournament.

The Serbian’s ascent to the final of the ATP 1000 tournament in Shanghai resulted in his climb to No. 6 in the ATP Race standings. The players in his wake did not make any significant strides toward achieving the top eight finish required to qualify for Turin in the final week.

Andrey Rublev, Casper Ruud, and Alex de Minaur are the players who are immediately behind Djokovic in the ATP Race standings. However, all three were unable to secure the necessary points in the past week’s tour events.

This implies that the triumvirate has not undermined Djokovic’s prospects of participating in Turin; however, they will have an additional opportunity to move closer to him in the rankings over the next few days.

De Minaur is the second seed in an ATP 500 event in Vienna and will be matched against the seasoned German player Jan-Lennard Struff in the first round.

After a period of absence from the game and the omission of several tournaments during the Asian run of the season, Alexander Zverev of Germany will return as the top dog in the Vienna tournament.

In Basel, the top seed, Rublev, may engage in a match with the second seed, Ruud, that could be of great importance to both players as they strive to reach the final eight and qualify for the ATP Finals.

In Switzerland, Rublev has been paired with Nuno Borges of Portugal for the first round, while Rudd will face veteran Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut in his opening match.

Djokovic may have already secured his spot in Turin by the time the ATP Finals commence at the end of October, as the Paris Masters is expected to determine the final positions.

Djokovic may be inclined to forgo the Paris Masters if he does not require any additional ranking points to advance to Turin, given the nagging ailments that have impeded his performance in Shanghai and during the Six Kings Slam.

Djokovic’s enduring brilliance is evident in the fact that, despite delivering his most unfavorable results this season, he remains in a strong position to qualify for the ATP Finals.

When asked whether Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are on par with the Big Three, Rafael Nadal said that tennis fans should “wait” till Novak Djokovic departs.

After next month’s tournament, Nadal will join Roger Federer in retiring, thereby ending the Big Three era of men’s professional tennis.

After Andy Murray of the United Kingdom departed earlier this year, leaving Djokovic and Murray as the only remaining players who have really challenged the Big Three.

Sinner and Alcaraz, the current ATP Tour world No. 1 and No. 2 players, respectively, have been the subject of much discussion on their relative merits among the Big Three.

In his second-to-last match before retiring, French Open great Nadal was asked about drawing comparisons between himself, Djokovic, and Federer with players like Alcaraz and Sinner.

Novak Djokovic has disclosed his intentions for when he retires from professional tennis, suggesting that retirement may not be far off.

Novak Djokovic disclosed his extensive post-tennis agenda, acknowledging that he is experiencing difficulty keeping up with the likes of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.The 24-time grand slam winner is still in excellent condition at the age of 37 and has ultimately secured Olympic gold in Paris this summer.

He has been usurped by youthful chargers Sinner and Alcaraz, who have divided the grand slam victories in 2024, despite remaining a force in tennis. Sinner, the world’s top-ranked player, recently defeated Djokovic in the Shanghai Masters final.

Although he is eager to continue playing for as long as possible—he has previously expressed interest in competing at the 2028 Olympics at the age of 41—Djokovic has contemplated life beyond the world of professional tennis significantly. Additionally, certain aspects of his strategy may be unexpected to certain individuals.

He addressed the challenge posed by his younger competitors, divulging via Sportal: “I think I belong to that old guard that maybe can’t handle the youth anymore,” implying that retirement may not be fair right away. Change is inevitable; it has been discussed for years.

“We currently have young players, but we also have a generation that is in between, including [Alexander] Zverev, [Daniil] Medvedev, and [Stefanos] Tsitsipas.” These are all individuals who were or are currently in the top 10, with Medvedev being the highest-ranked.

“They will remain in the vicinity with the younger generation for an extended period.” Nevertheless, I am under the impression that you are referring to Sinner and Alcaraz. The two have cultivated an extraordinary rivalry over the past year, and this is the primary factor that has captivated the public’s attention. People may not follow tennis as a sport, but they all follow famous rivalries.

Post-tennis, Djokovic has a lengthy list of objectives. In addition to his numerous commercial interests, he is enthusiastic about enhancing his musical and artistic abilities and may even pursue a career in acting.

Regarding his business interests, he stated, “I am also extremely enthusiastic about matters concerning health and recovery, as well as sports science and biotechnology.” I have a comprehensive list of interests, and I am currently pursuing the development of brands through various partnerships. Additionally, I have made investments in these disciplines.

“My colleagues and I endeavor to unite all elements in order to establish a collection of robust brands.” Beyond tennis and philanthropy, I aspire to broaden my brand to encompass the realms of business, wellness, and beyond.
