The Detroit Lions announced Thursday afternoon that rookie cornerback Ennis Rakestraw has been officially put on injured reserve and will be ready to play again. Rakestraw has been out since Week 12 with a hamstring injury, but he can now be added back to the active roster.

The Lions picked Rakestraw in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He has played in eight games so far this season and has made six tackles. Head coach Dan Campbell had said before that the talented rookie was close to coming back. This move makes it possible for him to help the Lions’ defence as they get closer to the playoffs.

Since Rakestraw is getting close to being fully recovered, the Lions are hoping that his return will help their defence get ready for the playoffs.
