Aleksander Kilde, Mikaela Shiffrin’s fiance, reacts after Norwegian skier Henrik Kristoffersen earns his first GS victory in the 2024/25 season.
Mikaela Shiffrin’s boyfriend, Aleksander Kilde, praised fellow Norwegian alpine skier Henrik Kristoffersen, who won the giant slalom on the Kranjska Gora hill. Kilde has not competed in the present 2024-25 World Cup season due to injuries from the previous season.
Kilde fell while skiing downhill in Wengen. With a shoulder dislocation, a lacerated calf, and other ailments, he was unable to compete for the remainder of the 2023-24 season. Following a lengthy recuperation period, the Norwegian stated that he will undergo another shoulder surgery and sit out of the competitive slopes in 2024-25.
However, the Olympic medallist has stood behind his colleagues and fiancée, Mikaela Shiffrin, as they continue to race. His colleague, Henrik Kristoffersen, just won his first championship in the men’s giant slalom at Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. Kilde announced Kristoffersen’s victory in his Instagram account, writing:
“congrats @h_kristoffersen”

Kilde congratulated Kristoffersen on his second-place finish in the giant slalom competition in Schaldming, Austria, trailing only Norwegian skier Steen Olsen. He posted a snapshot of his colleagues on the podium and wrote:
“Yess boyss!!”
Mikaela Shiffrin has been a persistent supporter of Kilde’s recuperation, spending time at the hospital and even bringing him on a holiday. The couple got engaged in April 2024, according to an Instagram post by the 100-time World Cup winner.

Mikaela Shiffrin was absent from the tournament after injuring her abdomen during a giant slalom event in November 2024. She underwent surgery and spent two months in the comfort of her own home, supporting other US skiers. She returned to the World Championships in Saalbach and won the team event with Breezy Johnson, although she did not compete in the GS the next day.
Shiffrin continued to struggle with her form in the giant slalom, but she won her 100th World Cup slalom at Sestriere, Italy, earning praise and congratulations from everyone.
Aleksander Kilde, who had another shoulder injury, sent a letter to his ‘GOAT’ fiancee while watching her triumph from the hospital bed.
“Sorry, Mikaela, I know you despise the GOAT talk, but occasionally your guy should be allowed to gloat. Today marks your 100th World Cup triumph – awesome! I’m very proud of you, and best of luck to anybody tries to challenge that record. But what shines out much more is who you are every day, which is far more important than any amount of achievements. As you say, “it’s just a number.” He commented, “On another note, I watched this from a hospital bed – just after a planned and (hopefully 🤞🏻) my last shoulder surgery.”
Shiffrin’s performance also linked her with the great Ingemar for the 155th podium finish of her career.
