Tom Rogic is delighted about returning to Celtic Park for the Foundation charity match
Celtic Legends will host Manchester United Legends on Saturday, September 6, 2025 in the Celtic FC Foundation’s next Legends Charity Match, which is sponsored by Dafabet, and a number of familiar faces have already been confirmed for the Bhoys.
Several Celtic greats, including Joe Hart, Artur Boruc, Gary Hooper, Efe Ambrose, Charlie Mulgrew, and Shaun Maloney, have already been announced for the match.
Tom Rogic, a fan favourite, will also be pulling on the Hoops for the first time.
Supporters will undoubtedly be pleased at the thought of the Wizard of Oz returning to the Celtic Park surface with his signature grace.
But Tom is as excited to return for the match, and we caught up with him ahead of time.
Tom Rogic said, “I’m incredibly excited to come to Glasgow for the Legends Charity Match.
‘I haven’t gone back since I left the club, so the prospect to play at Celtic Park again is quite exciting. There are also a lot of familiar faces I am excited to see.
“It will be fantastic to play at the stadium again in front of the magnificent Celtic fans. The Club was such an important part of both my career and my life, so returning and being able to play in front of the people again feels odd, but it’s something I can’t wait for.
“I haven’t laced up a pair of boots since I retired, so it should be an exciting day!
“I’m also really excited about the idea of facing Manchester United. I know many of the Bhoys played in the match at Old Trafford, and we’re looking for another strong showing at Celtic Park, albeit it won’t be easy because they’ll have some fantastic players.
“It will undoubtedly be a fantastic event, with two footballing powerhouse clubs coming together for a wonderful cause.
“I’m confident, as usual, that Celtic fans will turn out in large numbers to support the match, which is critical because the cash raised will make a significant difference to those in greatest need.
“The work that the Foundation do is phenomenal, so it’s a privilege to be involved and hopefully together we can raise lots of money.”

Tom Rogic Opens Up on Celtic Park Return: “It Feels Like Coming Home”
Tom Rogic is set to return to Celtic Park, not for a competitive fixture this time, but for a special cause that’s close to the hearts of both the player and the club. The Australian midfielder, who enjoyed a decorated spell with Celtic, will lace up his boots once more to take part in the Foundation charity match—a moment that promises to be emotional for fans and the player alike.
For Rogic, this return isn’t just about football. It’s about reconnecting with a fanbase that embraced him, a stadium that witnessed his finest moments, and a cause that represents the values Celtic has always stood for. Speaking ahead of the event, Rogic shared his excitement and sense of pride, calling the opportunity “a privilege.”
The charity match, organized by the Celtic FC Foundation, is aimed at raising funds for a variety of initiatives, including support for local communities, health projects, and children in need. The presence of former legends like Rogic is expected to draw huge crowds and spark nostalgia among supporters who remember his magic on the pitch.
Rogic’s return is particularly significant given the impact he had during his time at Celtic. Known for his composure, silky footwork, and knack for scoring crucial goals, he became a fan favourite and earned legendary status with his unforgettable stoppage-time winner in a Scottish Cup Final.
The midfielder admitted that he’s already visualizing stepping onto the Celtic Park pitch again, soaking in the noise, the green and white scarves, and the warmth of a crowd that never stopped singing his name. While this match won’t carry competitive weight, the emotional pull is just as powerful.
Since his departure, Rogic has remained relatively quiet, making his appearance in this fixture even more special. Supporters are eager to see how he’s kept up, and whether that trademark left foot still has the magic to find the net one more time under the Glasgow skies.
The Foundation match is shaping up to be more than a feel-good occasion—it’s a full celebration of the club’s spirit, bringing together former heroes, loyal supporters, and charitable ambition in one unforgettable afternoon. Rogic’s involvement has already sparked a wave of ticket sales and social media tributes.
Tom’s return also highlights Celtic’s deep connection with its former players. The club has always maintained a strong bond with those who gave their all in the jersey, and the invitation extended to Rogic is another example of that enduring Celtic family ethos.
For Rogic, it’s also a chance to reconnect with old teammates, some of whom will be lining up alongside him once more. The camaraderie, the laughter, the shared memories of title runs and cup finals—it all adds to the sense of reunion and joy that the match will surely provide.
Rogic has made it clear that his time at Celtic was the defining chapter of his career. From his first goal to his last-minute winners, from title celebrations to tearful goodbyes, Celtic was more than a club to him—it was a home. This event allows both the fans and Rogic to celebrate that bond once more.
The midfielder praised the work of the Celtic FC Foundation, calling it “inspiring and essential.” He expressed pride in contributing to something that not only brings smiles on the field but changes lives off it. His presence will not just entertain, but help raise awareness for the critical support the Foundation provides year-round.
Many younger fans, who may have only seen Rogic’s highlights, will get a rare chance to witness his elegance live. For the older supporters, it’s a reminder of Celtic’s recent golden years—a period when Rogic played a pivotal role in the club’s domestic dominance and memorable European nights.
The buzz around the event continues to grow. Media coverage is intensifying, and fans are preparing to travel from across the country to catch a glimpse of their returning hero. Celtic Park is expected to be full, not just for the football, but for the unity and goodwill the event represents.
Club officials have spoken about their excitement in welcoming Rogic back, praising his decision to support the cause and re-engage with the Celtic community. Internally, there’s a strong belief that these kinds of events solidify the cultural roots of the club.
Rogic’s humility has always been one of his defining traits, and that was evident again in his statements about the match. He didn’t talk about his own achievements, but rather the opportunity to give back, to play with joy, and to raise money for something greater than himself.
The match is also expected to serve as a bridge between generations of Celtic players and fans. With former stars, youth prospects, and club ambassadors all under one roof, it’s a perfect example of how football can unite people for a purpose beyond the game.
Celtic fans can expect a few surprises on the day, with rumours of other returning names and special tributes planned. But for many, seeing Tom Rogic back in that iconic shirt, even for just a short while, will be the highlight of the entire occasion.
As the day approaches, anticipation is building. For Tom Rogic, for Celtic, and for the fans, this match is more than a reunion—it’s a reminder of legacy, love, and the lasting power of football to bring people together. The roar that greets him at Celtic Park will say it all.
When he walks out of that tunnel, hears the chants, and sees the sea of green and white again, there will be no doubt in his heart—Tom Rogic is home.
