Newcastle ‘leading race’ for Chelsea player as Manchester United star signs €25 million deal
The most recent Premier League transfer speculations, including news from Newcastle, Chelsea, Manchester United, Leeds, and more…
As part of our aim to make the fast-paced insanity of the summer transfer window more digestible, 3 Added Minutes has returned with its newest round-up of the greatest fresh Premier League transfer speculations, beginning with reports of a potential deal between Newcastle United and Chelsea.
According to Caught Offside, “negotiations have begun” over a deal that may see Newcastle sign defender Axel Disasi from Chelsea, with the Magpies “leading the race” for the Frenchman ahead of Villarreal, Aston Villa, and other undisclosed sides.
Chelsea is reportedly looking for at least €35 million (£30 million), but Newcastle appears to feel they can reduce that figure to €30 million (£26 million). Given Chelsea’s evident desire to sign the former Monaco player, this appears to be a reasonable assumption.
Despite his problems at Stamford Bridge, Newcastle are reportedly “big admirers” of Disasi and are “pushing ahead with a deal,” though talks are still in the early stages. Aston Villa’s apparent interest is described only as wanting to make his loan agreement permanent, but no conversations are said to be taking place.
The 3AM Verdict: It’s unclear whether these are conversations between the clubs about a transfer fee or talks between Newcastle and the player, which are often much more casual and frequently fail. In short, it’s too early to say whether a deal will actually go through at this point.
Manchester United reach ‘complete agreement’ on €25 million transfer deal.
We’ll stick with Caught Offside for our second story of the day, which claims that Manchester United’s wanted winger Jadon Sancho has now reached “full agreement” with Juventus about a prospective move to Serie A.
Getting personal terms in order will not be sufficient. United are asking for €25 million (£21.5 million), but that is “considered too high” by Juve, and negotiations over a fee are ongoing, with Sancho himself “pushing” his current employers to decrease their expectations in order to arrange a trade.
Juventus’ most recent approach was for £15 million, and while it is unlikely to be enough, negotiations are believed to be “progressing well” and Manchester United may have already “backed away” from their higher price. Sancho could be heading to join the Old Lady soon.
The 3AM Verdict: It has probably taken longer than it should have, but the noises coming from Turin are quite optimistic right now, and we anticipate that a deal to bring Sancho to Serie A will go through. There is still time for everything to stall, and United appear to have been very stubborn with their discussions in general this summer.
Leeds ‘accelerate’ deal for former England star
We’ll wrap things up by returning to Chelsea and their efforts to clean away their infamous ‘bomb squad’ of undesired players. According to Football Insider, Leeds United will “accelerate” their bid for left-back Ben Chilwell, causing them to lose another player soon.
Admittedly, the story fails to explain what they’re doing to speed anything, instead confirming that they’re “keeping a close eye on his situation,” which is hardly necessary given that everyone knows what it is – he’s looking for a new club.
Leeds will reportedly add another full-back despite the £10 million signing of Gabriel Gudmundsson, though no financial specifics of any deal that could bring former England player Chilwell to Elland Road have been revealed.
The 3AM Verdict: It’s a reasonable rumour, but we can’t help but notice that Football Insider clearly doesn’t have much of an inside track on this – the article amounts to saying “Leeds might think about maybe bidding for Chilwell” in a lot more words, and the Whites haven’t lifted a finger to make it happen as of yet. Perhaps there will be movement down the line, but it does not appear that Chilwell will be moving anytime soon.
