Liverpool are still interested in signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle United this summer, according to TEAMtalk, with the Sweden international striker himself eager to make the move to Anfield after sources revealed his dissatisfaction with the Magpies’ own transfer policy.

Despite winning the Premier League title last season, Liverpool has been very busy in the summer transfer market. The Reds have spent about £300 million (€346 million, or $406 million) on seven new players, including offensive midfielder Florian Wirtz, right-back Jeremie Frimpong, and left-back Milos Kerkez.

Liverpool also announced the purchase of Hugo Ekitike on Wednesday evening, paying Eintracht Frankfurt £79 million (€91 million, $107 million) plus add-ons for the 23-year-old French striker.

Liverpool pursued Ekitike after Newcastle rejected their proposal for Isak. However, TEAMtalk reports that Liverpool is interested in the Sweden international striker and believes a deal is financially feasible.

Liverpool’s interest in Isak remains strong, with sources close to the Newcastle striker claiming he is still open to a transfer to Anfield.

Speculation about the 25-year-old’s future has reached fever pitch following his absence from Newcastle’s pre-season tour in Singapore, which was officially attributed to a minor thigh injury.

However, sources have confirmed that the Swede has received a clear medical exam on the matter, heightening the interest and fueling speculation of a possible blockbuster transfer.

Isak remains a key component of Newcastle’s plans. The Magpies have openly stated that their star forward is not for sale, but their difficult transfer window has raised doubts about their capacity to keep him.

Newcastle’s failure to sign major targets like as Ekitike, combined with stalling contract negotiations with Isak, has prompted internal questions about the club’s future.

According to sources close to Isak, his camp is’still examining all possibilities’, as the player is disgruntled by Newcastle’s lack of star additions and uncertain chances of competing for top honors next season.

How Liverpool may afford the Alexander Isak transfer – sources

For Liverpool, Isak is the final piece of their attacking puzzle. The Reds see the Swedish striker as one of Europe’s best, capable of propelling their already powerful squad to new heights.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is determined to build a dynasty at Anfield, and he sees Isak’s precision finishing and adaptability as critical to maintaining the Reds’ dominance in domestic and European play.

Liverpool are willing to sell several high-profile players to fund a prospective deal for Isak, which may cost more than £130 million (€150 million, $176 million).

Darwin Nunez, Luis Díaz, and Harvey Elliott are potential departures, with Napoli and Al-Hilal showing interest.

Such departures would provide for the financial flexibility to pursue Isak while conforming to fiscal restrictions.

Newcastle, helped by their financial stability and recent Champions League participation, are not under urgent pressure to sell Isak, who is also on the radar of Saudi Pro League clubs.

However, Isak’s desire to move to Liverpool, where he can play in the Champions League and compete for trophies, may tip the scales.

The striker’s desire to compete for the Ballon d’Or and play in Europe’s top championships complements Liverpool’s lofty aims, making Anfield an appealing destination.

Isak’s absence from Newcastle’s pre-season tour has fueled conjecture, with fans and experts alike wondering if the Magpies can keep their prized asset.

As Liverpool continues their aggressive recruitment drive, their pursuit of Isak demonstrates their desire to construct a squad capable of dominating for many years to come.

For the time being, the transfer situation is unresolved, but with Isak’s objectives obvious and Newcastle’s determination under investigation, this might be one of the most significant transactions of the transfer window, according to sources.

Eddie Howe, the Magpies’ manager, will probably face more unpleasant questions about Isak when he meets with the media in Singapore. And the manager has already stated that his star striker has been upset by recent speculation after he was left out of the team that lost 4-0 to Celtic in their first pre-season friendly.

“It was my decision,” Howe stated at the time. “I chose to send him home because of the suspicion around him. He didn’t want to be sitting in the stand, observing; it wasn’t fair to him. But I am certain he will become a Newcastle player.”

However, Howe did add a proviso to Liverpool’s hopes of still signing Isak, which would likely result in them rejecting a planned Ekitike deal.

He continued, “Both [Joelinton and Isak] are fit but not ready to play. Alex has trained and is well, but we didn’t want to take any chances with him.

“It’s tough for me to provide 100 percent information on any player. Alex is content at Newcastle – he enjoys the players, the staff, and the squad.”

According to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool is attempting to prevent France international central defender Ibrahima Konate from joining Real Madrid this summer or as a free agent at the conclusion of next season.

Meanwhile, Manchester United and Brazil international midfielder Casemiro has expressed his opinions on Rodrygo, amid reports that Liverpool are interested in the Real Madrid forward.
