despite the serious ACL injury to Levi Colwill, their young centre-back. Instead, Chelsea are focusing on other targets to strengthen their defense following Colwill’s long-term absence.

Levi Colwill underwent successful surgery and is expected to miss the majority of the 2025-26 season, prompting Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca to identify bringing in a new centre-back as a priority. While Marc Guehi, an academy graduate with just a year left on his contract at Palace, would provide an ideal option with relatively little competition for a starting spot, Chelsea appear to be leaving the path clear for Liverpool, who are now considered favorites to sign him.

Chelsea have added versatility with the signing of Jorrel Hato from Ajax but are also linked with other defensive targets such as Ronald Araujo from Barcelona, reflecting a more diverse approach to replacing Colwill’s presence rather than focusing solely on Guehi.

In summary, despite the injury blow to Colwill, Chelsea are not currently competing with Liverpool for Marc Guehi and are exploring different defensive options this transfer window.
