Liverpool’s hopes of signing Isak are bolstered as Newcastle ‘start discussions’ on important deal
Liverpool manager Arne Slot believes they need to acquire another attacker before the summer transfer window ends, as they have already lost Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz.
Prior to the Reds’ 4-2 victory over Bournemouth, Slot described Hugo as a versatile number nine who can either play on the left or alongside another number nine.
“It’s obvious that with Darwin and Luis Diaz gone, and even last season, we had five or six choices. I suppose I should also acknowledge Diogo.
“So yeah, we need to have one more attacker, at least.”
Arne Slot hopes to add at least one more attacker to Liverpool’s squad this summer.

While Liverpool’s second approach for Isak has yet to materialise, it is likely before September 1. Newcastle’s attitude on a potential transfer has been revealed.
According to the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope, the Magpies will only consider relinquishing their talisman if two forwards arrive at St James’ Park.
As things stand, Newcastle are looking to complete a deal for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa.
The two teams have yet to agree on a deal, as Newcastle is unwilling to match the Bees’ value of Wissa, which has increased to £60 million from about £50 million.
Meanwhile, the Athletic have stated that Eddie Howe’s side is very interested in Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.
The 25-year-old is said to be one of a select set of forwards being considered to strengthen Newcastle’s attack, although a deal is not any closer than others.
Furthermore, the source indicates that conversations have already taken place through intermediaries, and that the Norway international is interested in a move to Newcastle but is not looking to leave Wolves.
According to sources, Newcastle values Isak at £150 million, and Liverpool has recently raised finances with the sales of Nunez, Diaz, and Ben Doak to go closer to that number.
