Arsenal Receive Encouraging News on Saka and Odegaard Injuries*
Arsenal have been given a positive update on Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard, with early assessments suggesting their injuries aren’t as serious as initially feared.
Saka was substituted during Arsenal’s 5-0 win over Leeds United after feeling discomfort in his hamstring, prompting concern from Mikel Arteta, who described the issue as potentially “significant.” Odegaard also left the match early, clutching his left shoulder.
Both players were scheduled for scans on Sunday, and initial results indicate the injuries may be less severe than expected. However, it’s still unclear if they’ll be available for Arsenal’s upcoming match against Liverpool.
Arteta said: “I haven’t spoken to the doctor yet, but for Bukayo to come off, it’s serious. He felt something while sprinting. He’s had this before and knows the feeling. Martin has a shoulder issue—those were the two setbacks today.”
If unavailable, Saka and Odegaard would join Kai Havertz, Ben White, Christian Norgaard, and Gabriel Jesus on the injury list, leaving Arsenal potentially without six first-team players for the trip to Anfield.
Despite the concerns, Arsenal’s new £64 million striker Viktor Gyokeres scored twice on his home debut, with Jurrien Timber also netting a brace and Saka adding one before going off, as the Gunners continued their perfect start to the season.
