Full List of Members of the Warning Band
Three adolescent sisters from the industrial heartland of Mexico never dreamed that their bedroom jam sessions would lead to prominent performances with bands like Metallica and Guns N’ Roses. When the Villarreal Vélez siblings—Daniela, Paulina, and Alejandra—turned their love of the video game Rock Band into true musical talent in 2013, the Warning came out of Monterrey. Over the course of their ten-year voyage, this dynamic three has remained true to its initial lineup, with neither new members nor member additions.
Eighteen music videos, two extended plays, and four full-length studio albums make up the band’s catalog, which chronicles their transition from cover performers to original songwriters. In addition to the EPs Escape the Mind (2015) and Mayday (2021), their repertoire features XXI Century Blood (2017), Queen of the Murder Scene (2018), Error (2022), and Keep Me Fed (2024). Their artistic development was followed by commercial success, especially after their song “Money” rose to number 31 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. They now have 1.2 million monthly Spotify listeners.
Viral social media content brought them international exposure; in particular, their 2014 Metallica cover received acclaim from Kirk Hammett personally and received over 26 million views. This breakthrough resulted in big festival spots, television appearances on shows including The Ellen DeGeneres Show and MTV Video Music Awards, and major label representation with Lava Records. Their touring resume includes headline shows in North America, Europe, and Asia in addition to supporting roles for iconic groups like Muse, Halestorm, and Three Days Grace.
Vélez Daniela “Dany” Villarreal
When The Warning was founded in 2013, Daniela Villarreal Velez became its main songwriter and founding member. She is the band’s lead guitarist and lead vocalist, defining its musical direction and artistic vision. She was born on January 30, 2000. From the time she was thirteen years old until their current global fame, she has been involved with the band for the entirety of its existence.
After receiving piano lessons as a child, Dany switched to guitar during her family’s rock band practice sessions. Music magazines have taken notice of her guitar approach because it blends powerful rock dynamics with melodic sensitivities. As the lead songwriter for the group, she influences the musical arrangements and the lyrical content, frequently starting the ideation process that her sisters later develop.
Her contributions to each album demonstrate her development as an artist over several releases. She worked with producer Jake Carmona, who became a regular collaborator, to create the band’s early sound on Escape the Mind. During XXI Century Blood’s debut full-length album, she demonstrated her growing abilities as a guitarist and vocalist. Queen of the Murder Scene’s story structure showcased her conceptual songwriting skills. Error symbolized her increasing ease with louder guitar tones and her partnership with famed producer David Bendeth. Her experiments with fuzz and distortion effects are evident in Keep Me Fed, which gives the album its unique sound.
In addition to The Warning, Dany has established connections with custom builders and guitar manufacturers. Following suggestions from fellow artists and producer David Bendeth, she partnered with PRS Guitars. Additionally, she has collaborated closely with Rick Toone, a custom guitar maker whose creations can be heard prominently on The Warning’s most recent albums. She has become a well-known teenage guitarist in the rock scene thanks to interviews with guitar magazines and equipment demonstrations.
Vélez, Paulina “Pau” Villarreal
In 2013, Paulina Villarreal Vélez became a founding member of The Warning, contributing her remarkable drumming and vocal skills to the band. She shares lead vocals with her sister Daniela and is the band’s percussionist. She was born on February 5, 2002. As a singer and drummer, she is one of the few rock performers that can do both well at the same time.
At the age of four, Pau started taking piano lessons, and at the age of six, she discovered drums through Rock Band. Her playing technique is influenced by progressive rock, especially Rush drummer Neil Peart, whose intricate patterns and innovative ideas greatly influenced her technical approach. While occasionally taking the stage on particular songs, her vocal talents balance out her sister’s lead sections.
Pau has shown development as a musician and songwriter over The Warning’s record. At the age of twelve, she was first recognized through profiles in drumming magazines. Her basic rhythmic contribution, which bolstered the band’s original artistic vision, was featured on Escape the Mind. She contributed piano parts to XXI Century Blood and demonstrated her proficiency with both electric and acoustic percussion. During lead performances on a few tracks, Queen of the Murder Scene showcased her vocal range. Through the use of electronic components and background tracks, Error integrated her technological abilities. Her most advanced voice and drumming work to date may be heard in Keep Me Fed.
Beyond The Warning, Pau’s skills are acknowledged with individual accolades and awards. She competed against seasoned pros and won the 2023 Drumeo Rock Drummer of the Year title. Her impact has been recognized by Mexican newspapers; Forbes named her one of the 100 most powerful women in Mexico in 2024. The Decididas Global Award recognized her on a global scale for encouraging young women to aim high. She collaborated with Dead Poet Society on the song “Hurt” and made her directorial debut with the music video for “Qué Más Quieres” by The Warning.
Vélez, Alejandra “Ale” Villarreal
When The Warning was created in 2013, Alejandra Villarreal Velez was the youngest member and bassist. She was eight when she formed, making her one of the youngest professional rock musicians to receive widespread acclaim. She was born on December 13, 2004. She plays the bass guitar, provides harmonic vocal backup, and occasionally plays the keyboard.
At the age of seven, Ale started taking piano lessons before focusing on bass guitar. Because of her age and size, she needed smaller instruments for her early performances. She started with a Fender Mustang bass before switching to full-size instruments. Her melodic talents contribute harmonic richness to their arrangements, while her rhythmic collaboration with Paulina establishes the core groove of The Warning.
Ale has developed from a young, talented bassist to a skilled musician with a unique voice over The Warning’s albums. Even though she was only ten years old when it was recorded, Escape the Mind captured her early skills. At the age of twelve, XXI Century Blood showed off her developing technical abilities and self-assurance. More noticeable bass lines in Queen of the Murder Scene demonstrated her evolving musical style. Error signaled the beginning of her development as a proficient bassist with a deep comprehension of song structure. Her mature playing skills and stable position within the band’s sound identity are evident in Keep Me Fed.
Ale’s choice of instruments reflects her connections in the industry and her development as a professional. When a fan sent her one of Spector Bass’s instruments, she became their youngest artist at the age of fifteen thanks to an endorsement deal. She presently plays on Spector NS5 XL five-string basses that she designed herself, such as “Inferno.” These instruments give the band the tone and playability she needs for their upbeat concerts while accommodating their variety of tunings. In addition to playing the bass, she lists influences from modern French electronic musicians to jazz great Jaco Pastorius, illustrating the wide range of musical knowledge that permeates her work with The Warning.
