Gary Neville believes Manchester City can “shake” up the title race when they face Arsenal this weekend
Sky Sports commentator Gary Neville believes Man City can make a statement by defeating Arsenal on Sunday.
Despite defeating Manchester United in the derby, Pep Guardiola’s team will enter the game at the Emirates this weekend as underdogs, and Neville believes they must win to demonstrate they are genuine title challengers.
“I believe it is a more difficult game for City than for Arsenal. But for City, if you truly want to show that you’re back in the title fight and change things up, go win.”
“Go and win at the Emirates next Sunday because that will sort of shake things up and rock things a little bit.”
This is a crucial match for City.
After losing two of their first three league games, the derby victory was critical in getting back on track, but Guardiola understands that his squad must back it up.
After playing Serie A champions Napoli in the Champions League, the trip to Arsenal will round off a crucial week in the season.
As Neville points out, winning at the Emirates would be a huge confidence boost for this team, increasing conviction that they can challenge for the crown.
Man City’s latest injury news
Guardiola’s defender Rayan Ait-Nouri will be out until the next international break due to an ankle injury.
John Stones (muscular) and Mateo Kovacic (Achilles) hope to return soon, but Omar Marmoush (knee) will need at least a few weeks.
Rayan Cherki is scheduled to return in early November, while Marcus Bettinelli (knock) and Kalvin Phillips (Achilles) have no set return date.
