Mikaela Shiffrin shared her thoughts after beginning her 2025 season with members of Team USA. The American skier competed in the opening race of the FIS Ski World Cup season in Sölden, Austria, finishing fourth overall.

Shiffrin had a tumultuous season last year, going through a crash, recuperation, and comeback. Since then, Mikaela Shiffrin has taken some time off and returned to the slopes to prepare for the upcoming season, which is critical because the Winter Olympics are just a few months away.

Team USA performed well in their first race of the season, with six American skiers finishing in the top 20. Paula Moltzan finished second, recording her best World Cup Giant Slalom performance to date.

Mikaela Shiffrin spoke about her performance in a post-race interview, reflecting on her path and admitting to being scared as she prepared to compete in the season’s opening race.

“I am quite happy. After how I finished last season, it was a waiting game, and in the end, racing was the next stage in the preparation phase to obtain the race mentality, and I felt like my mind and body were connected today – I was so scared all week,” she explained.
