# No. 3 Texas A&M Moves to 9-0 with Easy Win Over No. 22 Missouri
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Texas A&M Aggies continued their march toward the College Football Playoff with another commanding performance, dismantling the No. 22 Missouri Tigers 41-17 on Saturday night at Kyle Field. With the victory, the Aggies improved to 9-0 on the season, keeping their championship dreams alive while sending a message that few teams in the country are playing better right now.
It was a night of complete dominance for head coach Mike Elko’s squad, who controlled every aspect of the game from start to finish. Quarterback Conner Weigman turned in yet another efficient and poised performance, throwing for 286 yards and three touchdowns, while running back Le’Veon Moss powered through for 112 rushing yards and two scores. The Aggie defense, one of the stingiest in the nation, once again lived up to its reputation, holding Missouri to just 274 total yards and forcing two critical turnovers.
“This team is locked in,” Elko said after the win. “Every week, they come out with the right mindset, execute the plan, and take care of business. We respect Missouri — they’ve had a great year — but our guys were focused on playing Aggie football tonight.”
Early Statement from the Aggies
Texas A&M wasted no time setting the tone. On the game’s opening drive, Weigman orchestrated a 75-yard march capped by a 14-yard touchdown pass to wideout Evan Stewart, who finished with seven catches for 119 yards. The Aggie defense then immediately forced a three-and-out, giving the offense a short field. Moss bulldozed his way into the end zone from six yards out to make it 14-0 less than ten minutes into the game.
Missouri, coming off an emotional win over Kentucky the previous week, looked flat early. Quarterback Brady Cook struggled to find rhythm against A&M’s relentless front seven, which recorded three sacks and constant pressure throughout the night. Defensive lineman Shemar Turner and linebacker Edgerrin Cooper were dominant, combining for 11 tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble.
Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz admitted afterward that the Aggies’ physicality overwhelmed his team.
“They’re just a really good football team,” Drinkwitz said. “Their defense takes away everything you want to do. We couldn’t run it, couldn’t hit explosive plays, and that puts you behind the chains all night.”
Aggies Keep Rolling
After Missouri managed a 41-yard field goal early in the second quarter to make it 14-3, A&M responded instantly. On the very next possession, Weigman connected with freshman phenom Micah Tease on a deep 52-yard bomb that set up another Moss touchdown run. By halftime, the Aggies led 24-3, and the 12th Man crowd could already feel another statement win in the making.
In the second half, the Aggies’ defense continued to suffocate Missouri’s offense. Cook was intercepted midway through the third quarter by cornerback Deuce Harmon, who returned it 34 yards to set up a short field. Two plays later, Weigman hit tight end Jake Johnson for a 17-yard touchdown, pushing the lead to 31-3.
Even when Missouri finally broke through late in the third quarter — Cook finding Luther Burden III for a 29-yard score — A&M responded like a team on a mission. Weigman engineered a crisp, five-play, 70-yard drive capped by a fade route to Stewart in the corner of the end zone. That touchdown made it 38-10 and all but ended any hopes of a Missouri comeback.
Balanced and Ruthless
What’s made Texas A&M so dangerous this season is its balance. The Aggies boast one of the nation’s top defenses and a steadily improving offense that can beat teams through the air or on the ground. Saturday’s win showcased that equilibrium perfectly — 480 total yards on offense, only 61 yards allowed rushing, and no turnovers.
“We’re clicking right now,” Weigman said. “Everybody’s doing their job — the line is protecting, the receivers are getting open, and Coach [Bobby] Petrino is dialing up great plays. It’s fun football.”
Missouri tried to rally in the fourth quarter, adding a late touchdown to make the final margin slightly more respectable. But by that point, A&M’s backups were on the field, and the Aggie faithful were already celebrating another undefeated Saturday.
Playoff Hopes Strengthen
At 9-0, the Aggies continue to solidify their case as a legitimate playoff contender. With wins already over LSU, Auburn, and Ole Miss, and a defense ranked in the top five nationally, A&M is looking every bit the part of a team that could crash the postseason party. The next two weeks will be critical, however, as the Aggies face tough road tests against Tennessee and then archrival Texas to close out the regular season.
Coach Elko, while proud of his team’s progress, wasn’t ready to talk about playoff scenarios just yet.
“Our goal is simple — go 1-0 every week,” Elko said. “If we keep that mentality, everything else will take care of itself.”
Missouri Looks to Regroup
For Missouri, the loss drops them to 7-3 and likely ends any hopes of sneaking into the playoff conversation. Still, Drinkwitz’s team remains in position for a strong bowl berth if they can rebound in their final two games. “We’ve got to learn from this,” Drinkwitz said. “We can’t let one loss turn into two.”
Final Thoughts
Texas A&M continues to look like a program reborn under Elko — disciplined, physical, and confident. Saturday’s victory wasn’t just another win; it was a statement that the Aggies are ready to challenge anyone in the country. As the season barrels toward its conclusion, one thing is certain: no team wants to see Texas A&M on the opposite sideline right now.
Final Score: Texas A&M 41, Missouri 17
Record: Texas A&M (9-0, 6-0 SEC) | Missouri (7-3, 4-3 SEC)
