Rangers’ goalkeeper officially ends his loan exit today.

Ranger’s teen custodian Jacob Pazikas will be leaving on loan to join Stranraer this summer.

The club’s Rangers B & Academy tweeted on June 21 that the 19-year-old had joined the Scottish team for the next season.

Pazikas hasn’t played for the Light Blues yet as a senior player. He spent last season on loan with the Civil Service Strollers in the Lowland League, where he made 23 appearances and kept seven clean sheets.

Since he left, he can’t play for the first team anymore, since Jon McLaughlin has already left and Robby McCrorie has turned down a contract extension at Ibrox [Daily Record, 4 June].

You can expect Robby McCrorie and Jack Butland to leave the Rangers this summer.

While Pazikas’ loan isn’t a big surprise in and of itself, it comes during a transfer window that has already seen one custodian leave permanently (McLaughlin), and three more could leave in some way before the summer is over.

McCrorie, who is 26, has spent his whole senior career with the Light Blues. However, he has only played seven times for the first team due to numerous loans, so he needs to leave if Philippe Clement is not going to make him his first choice.

As long as star player Jack Butland stays in Glasgow, there will only be one person at the top of the list. However, rumours have been going around for a long time that big-money offers could come in for the former Crystal Palace player.

Alan Nixon wrote on May 28 that there doesn’t seem to be a market for him to go back to the Premier League, and Clement will hope that stays the case.

We expect Liam Kelly to come back to Ibrox as the main backup after leaving Motherwell [Sky Sports, June 18], but we don’t know who will fill the third spot yet.

The Ibrox team said on Thursday that they are looking at other options since their home field will probably be closed for the first month of the 2024–25 season because of delays in improving the Copland Road stand. Immediately after that, an SFA spokesperson said that they would be happy to sit down with them and help them find a solution.

At first, it looked like playing at Hampden was the best option, but soon after, news came out that the National Stadium would be closed for work on the pitch. But now the Daily Mail says that won’t be a problem and that Rangers can play at Hampden. That’s because the Hampden pitch will be fixed up after Pink plays there on June 28 and 29. However, it will be ready for the start of next season.

And they say the SFA is “willing” to let the Ibrox club use it for a short time. Although that would be a good way for Philippe Clement to prepare, it would have to work with Queen’s Park’s schedule, since the Hampden-based team is currently back playing at their long-term home.

There have been no talks about a short-term lease, but the governing body is willing to have them. Murrayfield is another option, since Rangers is playing Manchester United there on July 20. However, Scottish Rugby has not yet said if that could become a long-term plan.

Rangers could also play their first few games away from home and then switch things around later in the season when Ibrox is ready. But it’s said that’s not even considered as an option.

Rangers officials are said to want to keep the defender and have no plans to start the new season without him at Ibrox.

The defender is still happy at Ibrox and isn’t being actively sought after by other teams. However, every player has a price, and Ridvan would have to get an offer that was too good to refuse in order to leave this summer.

Turkish news sources say that any money made from Masuaku’s departure could be used to sign Ridvan.
