Mike Brown comments on Jeremy Sochan’s Knicks debut.
Mike Brown offered his early assessment of Jeremy Sochan following the forward’s first appearance with the New York Knicks.
Brown expressed satisfaction with Sochan’s debut, even though the Knicks fell 126-111 to the Detroit Pistons. Despite the disappointing result, the head coach was encouraged by what he saw from the Polish forward in limited action.
“I thought his minutes were pretty good,” Brown said afterward, according to SNY. “It gives us the ability to give a guy like Cade a different look. With his length, his strength, his athleticism — we want to be physical.”
Sochan logged 10 minutes in his first outing in a Knicks uniform. He finished with two points, two assists, and one block. While the numbers were modest, his overall impact extended beyond the box score.
Defensively, Sochan worked hard to disrupt Cade Cunningham, using his size and versatility to apply pressure. His physical style and defensive intensity stood out as he attempted to slow down Detroit’s lead guard.
For Brown, that effort alone was an encouraging sign. Sochan had only recently joined New York after being waived by the San Antonio Spurs during a challenging season in which he struggled for consistent opportunities.
“He hadn’t played in a while, but most of the time he was on the floor guarding Cade, there was a physicality to it, and we liked that,” Brown said. “We need it.
“I thought for him, not having played in a while and only being here for a couple of days, he did a pretty good job.”
