Boston Celtics Suffer Worst Home Defeat Of Season Against Red-Hot Charlotte Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets etched their name into the record books with a dominant performance over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night at TD Garden.

Additionally, it stood as the Celtics’ most decisive defeat ever against Charlotte in franchise history. Shooting woes plagued Boston throughout the contest, and turnovers proved costly as they lost that battle by a significant margin. Charlotte also outperformed the Celtics from beyond the arc — an area where Boston typically excels — further compounding the damage.

Derrick White provided one of the few bright moments for the home side, finishing with a game-high 29 points. Jaylen Brown also delivered a solid all-around effort, recording 20 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists for a near triple-double. Unfortunately for Boston, they were the only two players to reach double figures in scoring, as the remainder of the roster struggled to generate consistent offense.

The Celtics will look to quickly regroup and respond when they return to action on Friday night against the Dallas Mavericks at TD Garden. They could receive a timely boost if Jayson Tatum is cleared to return to the lineup, which would provide much-needed firepower as Boston aims to bounce back from a humbling defeat.
